Foreign nationals married to Namibian citizens will, from 21 September 2026, be able to apply for a Certificate of Domicile, which serves as official proof that Namibia is their established home because of their marriage to a Namibian citizen. In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security said the new certificate replaces the Certificate of Identity previously issued to foreign spouses. Applicants must apply in person and may be interviewed by immigration officials to verify that the marriage is genuine. The certificate will cost N$1,600 once approved. Existing confirmation letters of domicile will remain valid until further notice, while dependent children will not qualify for the new certificate. Update: Eliot Ipinge

Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa is leading a high-level Namibian delegation to Ethiopia to explore cooperation in planning, development and housing. The study mission is focusing on Ethiopia’s development experience, including its economic transformation, agricultural development and digitalisation. Ethiopia’s economy has recorded average growth of more than 7%, alongside improvements in poverty reduction and GDP per capita. During a visit to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Planning and Development, Sankwasa called for stronger cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the longstanding historical relations between Namibia and Ethiopia. The delegation also visited a digital hub, where officials demonstrated a Monitoring and Evaluation Dashboard used to track the progress of government projects. Sankwasa expressed interest in a similar system being adopted in Namibia to allow ministers to monitor the implementation of projects under the Sixth National Development Plan. The mission concludes on Friday with visits to development projects implemented under Ethiopia’s current national plan. The EU is Namibia's most diverse export market, and counted as one trading bloc rather than by individual country, which is how it actually trades, it's Africa's biggest trading partner too. So who really buys what Namibia exports? Trade data commissioned by @EUinNamibia. Analysis and views are my own.

Okarikua Mining in Ohungurume claims to still be "testing samples" two years on, yet full-scale extraction continues while Namibia loses revenue. To make matters worse, basic labor rights, worker safety, no housing, and proper PPE are completely neglected. We need immediate intervention! - Shut down operations pending a full audit by the Ministry of Mines & NamRA. - Stop illegal mining activities in the region. - Immigration officials must investigate the statuses of foreign miners in the region, who are running illegal mining Our national resources must benefit Namibians, not be taken out under the cover of "testing."!

Nathan Cofnas is the man behind the Jason Arday story. Here’s who he actually is. In February 2024, Cofnas wrote a blog post claiming that under a “meritocracy,” Black people would “disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment.” He called racial equality “based on lies.” Cambridge’s Emmanuel College cut ties with him over it. The Leverhulme Trust, which funded his research, disavowed him and opened its own investigation. He sued Emmanuel College for discrimination. He lost. Cambridge’s own disciplinary body dismissed all 58 complaints against him, ruling it fell under free speech protections. He then moved to Ghent University in Belgium. Over 300 staff and students there protested his hiring, questioning whether his views were compatible with the university’s ethics code. This is the man who spent months going through a Black professor’s PhD thesis and personal history, then published it on Substack. That’s what triggered Cambridge’s investigation into Jason Arday. This context is missing from nearly all the coverage. A self-described “race realist,” who argued Black professors would basically disappear under merit alone, is the one who decided which Black professor deserved scrutiny. Black professors: under 1% of the UK total. Black academics reaching professor level: 3.8%. This isn’t the first case. It won’t be the last. Go under the original post and see how overt racism works.
The extraordinary case of Professor Jason Arday As high-profile Cambridge professor Jason Arday resigns after a string of allegations about plagiarism, @kirancmoodley explores what this complex story really reveals about academia. Read our latest newsletter: channel4news.substack.com/p/…

Just because you lobbied to have the man who issued the war crimes taken down doesn’t mean the war crimes disappear or your guilt is assuaged. You will not outrun justice. You will not lobby history. You are a murderous maniac Benjamin Netanyahu. You will always be remembered as such.
I welcome the decision, supported by an overwhelming majority of countries, to remove Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. This decision exposes the truth. Karim Khan was accused of sexually harassing women who worked under him. It was precisely as these allegations emerged that he canceled his planned visit to Israel, abandoned his previous commitment to thoroughly examine Israel’s independent judicial system, and suddenly moved to pursue arrest warrants against me and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. He did so to divert attention from the allegations against him and to rally Israel’s enemies around him as a political shield. That shield has now been torn away. What has been exposed is not only Karim Khan’s true motivation, but also the profound injustice and corruption that have infected both the Office of the Prosecutor and the International Criminal Court itself. Last night, I spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He once again reaffirmed America’s determination to act forcefully against this institution—an institution that undermines justice, attacks democratic and sovereign nations, and seeks to subordinate their security to the decisions of unaccountable and corrupt officials in The Hague. This is a very positive development. The truth must now be heard throughout the world.

Serena’s returning to tennis, and honestly, it’s no surprise. What I’m most excited about, though, is seeing how she integrates her seasoned style into today's game, given how much the sport and its players have evolved.

Her choice to make a comeback on grass feels very poetic. Grass is exactly where my love for tennis began, sparked by that epic 2002 Wimbledon final between Venus & Serena. Welcome back, Serena. Wishing you nothing but good health as you seek out number 24... & just maybe, 25.
