Congress about to figure out ways for college football programs, coaches, and players to make more money while at the same time cutting payment to doctors.
An absolute crisis. Congress NEEDS to act. For months, I’ve been working night & day to try to bring Republicans and Democrats together to save college sports. If we fail to do so, it will be an utter tragedy. And it’s happening right before our eyes.

Smart financial moves doctors make: • Getting advice early - not after major mistakes • Automating saving + investing • Spending intentionally • Buying insurance before they need it • Saying no to common “doctor” FOMO

Current surgeon compensation models typically do not account for increasing student debt levels that continue to escalate. Drs. Angela Sickels and @JBartRose highlight their research conducted at @uabmedicine that was published in @acsJACS. brnw.ch/21wRION

I thought they went for the debt.
#1 reason for MD shortage is Med schools admitting students who aren’t going to practice. Only 60% of med students today plan on practicing clinical medicine. Med Schools need to focus on admitting students who want take care of patients, not just get their MD.

Evaluating physician comp in light of average national income is harmful. Their skill development, time in school, time in training, liability assumed, and ethical and moral obligation to their patients is all super high. Income SHOULD follow to substantial heights.

Has the @AmerMedicalAssn or @AmCollSurgeons made any statement on Biden’s plan to stop reporting medical debt to creditors?
231
What do you think @AmCollSurgeons
President @JoeBiden and I are making it so that medical debt can no longer be included in your credit score.

No one says a damn thing about how much CEOs, lawyers, or accountants make annually. It’s celebrated. But for some reason doctors are scapegoated and gaslighted to believe we don’t deserve it after years of sacrifice that doesn’t end after training.
Because they spent over a decade to learn. Because they made $12/hour for years (as physicians). Because they put their training ahead of many valuable life goals. Because they’re on call throughout their working years. Because they advocate for us. Because they save lives.

Remember this when insurers blame doctors again for increased health care costs.
Insured Americans are twice as likely to go out-of-network for mental health care compared to physical health care. Under our new plan, if insurance companies aren't treating mental health care on par with physical health care, they would be required by law to fix it.

My favorite doctors day emails are the ones that end with them asking for money. 🤦🏻‍♂️
