“Shamelessly tanking will create a loser culture!”
The Flyers culture as a result of them never shamelessly tanking:
Replying to @broadburnt @TheBeez1588
They HAVE been trying to increase their chances of drafting high. They've been sellers at every deadline. They've loaded up on draft picks. The team overperformed, as most Torts-coached teams do. They obviously value the culture they are building than they do shamelessly tanking.
The Flyers will gladly take your praise and your money.
They can also take a a couple hundred fans pooling together their money and having fun with asking for a better product.
Pearl clutching over this fundraiser is pathetic.
Flyers mentality: Don’t fire a guy if he once was a beloved Flyers player
I love the Flyers but I really despise some of our fans. Imagine donating money to a banner that says you want to fire a guy who spent years playing his heart out for our organization. Embarrassing. #letsgoflyers
Example 1 of Keith Jones being the right man for the Flyers President. This was April 2021. #FueledByPhilly
Compare this Tulsky quote vs. how the Flyers fall in love with players like Owen Tippett and Nick Seeler.
The Flyers continually think their own players are special, decide they are core pieces, and mismanage their associated value.
Seeing the national media identify problems that directly apply to the Flyers is heartwarming.
Briere has fallen into the same trap that Detroit now is: looking for “hockey trades” instead of maximizing value. It’s mismanagement from a team who insists it needs to get creative
According to Pierre, one of the Wild’s offers for Larkin has included 2-3 first-round picks and the Red Wings’ issue is they don’t want a futures package and desire immediate NHL talent. This logic across teams has never made any sense to me. You can flip those first-round picks for what you want! Take the best package from a total value standpoint.

The Flyers and lots Flyers fans overvalue their own toys. It’s how the team limits its own progress.
We get fans and executives treating a bottom-pair D as “awesome” because they think he’s a nice guy.
Oliver Moore being maybe the Flyers’ best center acquisition option should be an indictment of the entire process.
How can we read this rumor and be confident with their direction? This is what we’ve been building towards?
David Pagnotta - Daily Faceoff Live - #LetsGoFlyers | They're still trying to add at least one center to this roster. [...] Ivan Miroshnichenko, They inquired on him. I don't see that being a fit. I don't know if #ALLCAPS really have an appetite to move him in the East, especially not in their division. But Philly's checked on him. They've checked on a number of different players. There are reports of Chicago, Oliver Moore being one particular player that I believe they have some interest in - 10/28 #Blackhawks #NHL
For better or for worse, the Flyers definitely view that first 9 games as the “before times” that don’t fully count.
Since then, they’re 3-1-1 and look better, even if still underwhelming at times. Plus they have the injury excuse. They’re proud of what they’re showing now.
If you’re a Flyers fan, watch this video.
A rival’s GM talks like this while our GM and President talk about playoff ovations, culture, and hypothetical UFAs wanting to play for Tocchet.
It’s like he’s speaking a different language and working in a different league.
My 2 questions for #NJDevils GM Sunny Mehta at his press conference today and his well thought out answers.
Called him out for bluffing. Got him talking about Bayesian hierarchical models. And allegedly stole @mikemorrealeNHL’s question 😂
Meanwhile the Flyers limit their trade options to “hockey trades” because they can’t foresee the value and future use of draft picks
“They didn’t balk at trading Risto, they just overvalued him”
“You can’t just tank like San Jose. Do you want to be the next Buffalo?”
NEW for @TheAthletic,
The San Jose Sharks are an NHL destination again. Just ask the vets buying in alongside Macklin Celebrini (free to read) ⤵️

The media is now tweeting like those crazy online fans.
The paradigm is shifting. Tocchet may be on notice now.
