My 2 questions for #NJDevils GM Sunny Mehta at his press conference today and his well thought out answers.
Called him out for bluffing. Got him talking about Bayesian hierarchical models. And allegedly stole @mikemorrealeNHL’s question 😂

“It's one of the great bluffs that we've seen in the NHL.”
@JeffMarek and @TheFourthPeriod discuss the poker game behind New Jersey's acquisition of Connor Hellebuyck and how the Devils managed to keep their intentions hidden.

Here is the updated #NJDevils salary cap picture now that Connor Hellebuyck is officially on the roster.
$119K in Current Cap Space. It will be interesting to see if they make any moves for this upcoming road trip.
They have an open roster spot as they are only carrying 12 forwards. They would need to make a corresponding move if they call up a forward to fit them under the salary cap, however.

By missing training camp without permission, Hellebuyck's Cap Hit is reduced to $8.1M this season.
The #NJDevils currently have $8.2M Current Cap Space available, so when his suspension is lifted, they will have sufficient space without requiring a roster move.
