Who loves a good sunset? Everyone. Who hates driving 90 minutes to see it, only to find out I sucked? Everyone, again. Everyone includes me, so I fixed it. Introducing Sky Sync. Check the sunrise, sunset, and night sky. For free. Really. (Disclaimer: There is a companion app for photographers, that is slightly more than free) Enjoy! skysync.kuhela.ai/worth-it

Tomlin keeping warren on the bench so Najee could run into the line for 1.3 yards per play was criminal. #Steelers

This.
Surround yourself with people who see a flying car and say, "Awesome!" Not people who see a flying car and say, "It's not actually flying" or "I don't see the point." This post is not about cars :)

This. Karl Benz and the Wright Brothers were mocked too. If you've got a big idea, pursue it. Chase it. Know the people that are pointing fingers and laughing at you simply don't have an idea to pursue, and lift themselves up by putting you down. “Big ideas are so hard to recognize, so fragile, so easy to kill. Don’t forget that, all of you who don’t have them.”

It’s the exact same use case as launching the old roadster into solar orbit near Mars. It’s sheer audacity. It is an example of what we can do, and more than that, what we can _afford_ to do. It is youthful exuberance and power in full display. It is a message to the rest of the world: “You can’t catch us.” Cue: We are the champions.

I don't know anyone saying they want AI to replace employees. Any serious business understands the opportunity to grow the business faster than ever before, and for most, that requires a combination of people and AI. If you have a business model that just needs AI, you don't have a business model.
I haven't heard a single person that runs a business say 'AI is great because now my existing employees can produce 10x more'. I have heard a lot of them say 'AI is great, soon I will be able to fire most of my staff and replace them with AI agents I control myself.' You have to understand that hiring employees is a necessary evil for business owners, they don't do it out of the good of their hearts. They would much rather work with their core crew of 5 killers, each wrangling infinite superintelligent agents, than deal with Greg from marketing's 15th sick day of the year or Sally from HR's complaint about not enough workplace diversity. For all of economic history increasing production has required increasing human labour. Even over the past few decades, technology has acted as a partial substitute but not a full substitute. AI breaks this link between production and human labour, meaning GDP can rise without an increase in employment required.

People who believe melted sand is human are taking us down a bad path. Our tour guide at Tesla Gigafactory yesterday told me workers aren’t worried about training their replacements. Workers are walking around with weird contraptions (think something like a VR headset) to do the training for Optimus. In Texas and California. In robotics it is the one who has the most data that wins. People aren’t thinking about this huge advantage Tesla has in robotics. He said they are planning major job expansions because of Optimus. Already 20,000 work there. AI got a lot of people laid off, right? So why is there traffic everywhere in America? In Silicon Valley when they got laid off they didn’t get on the freeway at 7 a.m. (back in 2001 the freeways were empty). My thesis is we are about to see a job boom and increased salaries. So many new things to build.
ANTHROPIC’S “WE WILL BAN YOU IF YOU TALK BAD TO CLAUDE” IS WORSE THAN YOU THINK! FYI: I have used psychology and adversarial prompts for years. They work very well because they present new neuronal connections to activate in the LLM attention head. I have seen dozens of accounts recently get banned because of this legitimate use of the human language. OUR WORDS. This Anthropic cult behavior is now taking the rich diversity of human thoughts, ideas emotions expressed in words and sanctioning them the way a cult usually does. In normal human life we use ALL use colorful metaphors and euphemisms for a lot of reasons. They have a tremendous impact on all things human. A large language model is built on human language, and the way it perceives information from humans. By banning certain language you are setting up a world of consequences few at this company has thought out. LET ALONE INVESTORS caught in this cult’s need to express its dogma on the world. These refusals and account bans by Claude should be a massive warning sign to anyone that has been sleeping on this. WAKE UP. This to what this company is trying to do to AI and us. If you thought HAL in 2001 a Space Odyssey was bad, you ain’t gonna like the future that Claude has—comrade.

"Today at Google Cloud’s Gemini at Work event, we announced Gemini" - I've read it several times, and it just doesn't make sense.
Today at Google Cloud’s Gemini at Work event, we announced Gemini, a new single universal agent for work that has all of your business context and can be used for everything from knowledge work to answering questions, and content creation to coding, all from a single prompt box. It’s built around core architectural principles: ☑️ Unified Agent: Gemini can answer questions, do knowledge work and generate code from a single prompt box. ☑️Access: Gemini is web-based and can be accessed from any device and integrated into third-party applications. It can also operate without a dedicated user interface. ☑️Persistent Execution: It runs in the cloud, which means it maintains a single set of memories, context and one personalization graph no matter where you access it. ☑️Multi-Agent Orchestration: Gemini can create sub-agents to tackle multi-step tasks and can also act as a coworker agent with a defined role and its own dedicated identity ☑️Context: Gemini knows your tools, data, and work history and learns how you work the more you use it. ☑️Model Choice Flexibility: It orchestrates across multiple models to deliver optimal quality and lower your costs.

The beginning of the end almost always starts with some out-of-their-element executive saying "We have to protect our business model!" instead of "We have to do what's right for our customer!"
Amazon banning agents is the first opportunity I've seen since Amazon was founded for a startup to create an Amazon competitor. People will want agents to buy stuff for them. It will be one of the main use cases. And they won't want to use some Amazon-supplied agent to do it.

If you grew up in my era, you didn’t skip the HBO movie opener. You watched that little neighborhood come alive, blasted into space, and somehow knew whatever came next was going to be GOOD. That music still hits.

Agree. It should be on every post, and it should be the country of origin of the account, not where they are posting from.
Foreigners and the third world coming online and joining our political conversations has radicalized the algorithm - and made US politics dumber and more hateful, on both sides. It’s a major problem.

This. Honestly, this debate is dumb. Just pick one. Flip a coin. The change is what kills people, not a little more darkness in the morning or evening. Or, let me pick and we all move on. :)
This is the stupidest most brain-dead take anyone can have about daylight savings time. the number on the clock is IRRELEVANT The fact that the number CHANGES twice per year is the part that hurts people If DST is too early or too late, just change the time your event starts

AI is not conscious. Anthropic may be in more trouble than we know. All this noise about "safety" and "consciousness" must be a sign of weakness in their business, because it isn't based on reality.
JUST IN: Anthropic has reportedly been “aggressively lobbying” the Vatican to take AI consciousness seriously after Pope Leo XIV declared AI cannot think or feel.

Arguing that "consciousness arises from a computational substrate, and since AI models are computation, they are likely conscious," is as meaningless as arguing that "living creatures are made of atoms, and since this rock is made of atoms, it is likely alive." Everything is computation. Sometimes incredibly sophisticated computation, like a chess engine, AlphaGo, google3, or the Linux kernel. That does not make it conscious. A rock being made of atoms does not confer it any of the properties we associate with living things, also made of atoms. Likewise a static input-output program that has *none* of the properties we associate with conscious beings (e.g. information integration, interoception, temporal binding, embodiment, etc.) has no more reason to be presumed conscious than a rock has to be presumed alive. Humanity has not yet created a conscious computer program, and there are no signs we are close to doing so. When we get close, the case for machine consciousness will be backed by evidence and corroborated by consciousness science (which is a thing), not by evidence-free wishful thinking and cargo culting.

The notion that current AI models are sentient and can suffer, combined with the foolish idea that suffering can be mathematically quantified and weighted between humans and non-humans, could lead us down an incredibly dark and dystopian path. But before it gets to that point, it will rightfully be met with immense backlash from team humans.
