I’ve been raid leading for over 14 years now and I can confirm it’s not reasonably sustainable the amount of work you need to do without a massive support system, stubbornness to not quit, and a hint of masochism. I wish it wasn’t like this, but someone has to do it.

Mental is struggling rn, stress is at an all time high, EUI feature requests are pouring in at an unfathomable rate (avg 1000+ per month), then tonight I find out someone yelled at an EUI support team member cuz they felt their feature request wasn’t being prioritized enough.
I REALLY need people to get some perspective here or I will lose it lol. Bringing any kind of entitlement attitude to a FREE WoW addon is absolute insanity. EllesmereUI has no paywalls, no sponsors, no website ads, no partnerships, and no funding beyond one time donations. CurseForge payouts barely reach $200 a month LOL. I’ve poured every waking moment of mine into this project for 9 months, to the point where I barely have time to stream anymore, which is literally supposed to be my job. Many support team members have taken days off of work just to help with support during intense times.
So when someone comes in feeling entitled to a feature they want (usually something super niche that they try to say everyone needs) and gets pissed at a support team member over it, it’s incredibly fucked.
EUI will always remain completely free and unpaywalled, but in return I need patience and understanding for both myself and my support staff. With thousands of requests and reports coming in every month, some things are inevitably going to get missed, and many feature requests won’t be implemented. That’s just the reality of maintaining a project of this size with the time and resources available.
Finally, just remember that every single person helping with support is a volunteer giving up their own free time to help this community. They don’t get paid, they don’t owe anyone anything, and they absolutely do not deserve to be yelled at because someone’s feature request hasn’t been addressed.
It’s honestly ridiculous that this even needs to be said.
TLDR: Don’t ever yell at EUI staff members, and don’t act entitled over a FREE WoW addon. Just basic human decency please, be kind

Really wish Blizzard would ban Asmongold. Knowing this is the sort of community I'm going to be dealing with going into Forever where I retweet something and get 25 comments of his people calling me slurs is really killing my hype.

12.1 is here today and that means it's time for a GIVEAWAY!
To help celebrate the launch of the Curse of Ula'tek Blizzard was kind enough to give me a code for a Stoneforged Sentinel store mount.

I could yap about being a raid lead forever, so it was a joy being part of this. If my - gosh it’s been 14 years now - 14 years of experience can help make this insanely unforgiving and anxiety inducing job easier for folks, I’m a happy bean.
Cheers to all the RLs out there.

I'm mostly going to be saving my critiques of 12.1 until it goes live, but overall, I think my thoughts are that it is a very poor story choice that is *told* very well.
The themes behind Zul'jan's story are extremely well-communicated, he's just... really not the best target.

You’re not going to retain an audience by telling them that their 20 years of investment needs to be wiped clean to make it simpler for a hypothetical new set of customers.
You’re just going to make them question if it’s worth continuing the sunk-cost fallacy they have for WoW.

Midnight is so odd in that the leveling campaign is SO cohesive and well themed.
...but the max level campaign post-Voidstorm is a totally unrelated disaster that saps all the themes and tension from the story, and the side quests are massively variable in their quality.

If there is any takeaway thoughts moving forward, it's that I hope we see more zones like Voidstorm and Zul'Aman.
WoW deserves zones where all of its quests are built around a core thematic concept, and not just random fluff that could take place anywhere.

Given the state of things in the US, I want to make it clear that I am radically pro-transgender. 🏳️⚧️
Pride wouldn't exist without the trans community, and there is no line at which the people seeking to eradicate transness from public life will stop at trans people alone.

Uber’s COO has said that it’s getting “harder to justify” its AI costs because there was no way to show a link between AI spend and any meaningful increase in useful features. This is the first time I’ve seen a company say this directly.
