We along with @LA_StudentsDsrv just sued the Los Angeles Unified School District over their student surveillance app LASAR.

Counties across California are stealing the survivor benefits of children in foster care who have lost their parents.
It’s legal, but it’s wrong.
We have a bill to finally end this practice.

We’ve submitted an amicus brief to a federal court stressing the unconstitutionality of TX #SB12. The bill would ban drag shows from being performed near young people and prevent LGBTQ+ youth from experiencing representation and expression:

In California we still spend $134,000 a year per person to incarcerate people…
but for some reason we can’t ever find the money to help people pay the rent, pay for school, pay for childcare, or afford healthcare.
We have to change this.

WE WON! TOGETHER WE DEFEATED AB 695! 📢✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
The fact that #AB695 made it to the Governor’s desk demonstrates CA State Legislators remain steadfast in their dedication to cages over care & youth incarceration over youth development. 🔥📢 THREAD 🧵

This veto signifies that Los Angeles County Probation can’t simply make billion dollar asks of our state government when their track record is rife with harm, violence and failure. 📢🔥 Thank you @layouthuprising @cdfca

Correct (and thank you) @cdfca. The problem isn't the Probation Department's buildings, and a new fund of state money won't solve it. latimes.com/opinion/story/20…
Gov. @GavinNewsom, here’s the @latimes editorial board laying out very clearly why you should veto #AB695: “AB 695 would do the same, providing grants for more revamped probation hardware without improving the software."

Today is a great reminder that poverty is not a personal failure, it’s a societal failure. Sociopathic wealthy people lobby for it, knowingly condemning others to poverty and death. We made policies to fix this, they worked, & then we decided to put more people back into poverty.
