I have first hand experience that antisemitic abuse is treated as a far lesser issue than other forms of racism and homophobia. The sanctions (to the extent they exist) are not the same. The response from leaders is not the same.
Shows how little the @NEUnion understands of what goes on in schools. There already IS a hierarchy of racism - antisemitism is a footnote in the antiracism strategy. Maybe if Jewish pupils were treated the same as other minorities we wouldn’t have this problem. They’re not “privileged” they’re discriminated.

Bologna has become a warzone 🇮🇹 Of course the Palestinian flag is waving. All that flag brings is violence and destruction. The Free Palestine movement was always a Trojan horse for destroying the West

Remember, @Ed_Miliband said “you were right”. He needs to be held to account for breathing oxygen into this cesspit of hate. You never feed the crocodile.
Yesterday was a day of chaos and hate in London. Enough is enough @metpoliceuk. It's time to act against those inciting hate. No more two-tier policing.

This is an excellent letter. The only thing missing is to challenge the protestation that the policy will not affect synangogue going zionists and they are safe. An amendment was proposed to codify this. It was brazenly and inexplicably rejected. We draw our own conclusions...
After the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" vote, the Leader of Haringey Council, which is controlled by the Greens, wrote to various Synagogues in the borough to "reassure" them. I want to show you Highgate Synagogue's reply. I believe it is worth reading in its entirety.

Just listened to @havivrettiggur discuss Gaza war with @brett_mcgurk. Also listened to @dansenor with him. They make it sound so complex. Isn’t @Ed_Miliband analysis far simpler. Recognise Palestine. When that doesn’t work sanction (and vilify) Israel? ;) Brett pls Ed the book

Incomprehensible. They were seconds from disaster. What needed to go right to avert being wiped out is a long list. …and back to work Monday!!
Jesus, I've never seen an interview like this! 🤯 Watch the whole thing or at least read my notes: 1. Yaniv was sitting in Row 11, not Business Class. He heard a woman up front yelling “Stabbings!" (She didn't say who.) Yaniv immediately stands up to see what's going on. 2. Wife & daughters are sitting around him. Then the plane starts shaking. Plane rolls very sharply leftward and back to horizontal in a terrifying way. 3. It hits him that the commotion isn't a fight in Business Class, it's happening in the cockpit. 4. He yells “Buckle up!” and runs toward the cockpit. He's 6 feet away from the cockpit when the plane suddenly nosedives. 5. It felt like it nosedived for an eternity. (In reality about 30 seconds at 30,000ft/min, reaching speeds of about Mach 0.96. Those 30 seconds of nosediving cut the plane's altitude in half.) 6. “I was flying.” He was blown around upward, sideways, he was pressed against the floor extremely hard. (A 180lb man would effectively have 540lb of downward force on their body as the first nosedive leveled out.) 7. “I kept trying my hardest to get up off the ground. At some point, I was finally able to, when the plane leveled off a little.” He speculates that a system kicked in to automatically stabilize the plane. 8. He goes to the cockpit door and there's a crew member in a white shirt, who looks like he's also a pilot. He's grabbing the cockpit door with both hands, with his body leaning down. I didn't know if he was trying to open the door, or trying to hold the door closed! 9. “I get to him, I move him away, he doesn't resist. I open the cockpit door — it was a little difficult because the pilot was lying down on the floor behind it, the one who was attacked.” 10. “I went in. The terrorist was crouching with his knees on the instruments between the two pilots' seats. There was no one in the pilots' seats. He was hitting the instrument panel, trying to break the equipment.” 11. Yaniv yells “Come help!” to any other Israelis who are also in the aisle. He doesn't know how many there are because his back is to them. 12. Yaniv immediately grabs the terrorist by the throat and starts moving him away from the controls. The terrorist resisted, but Yaniv's struggle to get him out of the cockpit only took a few seconds. 13. A handful of men who'd already gotten up from their seats together with Yaniv were already standing in the aisle dividing up responsibilities among themselves. They take over subduing the terrorist. 14. Yaniv turns back to the cockpit controls. At this point, the plane isn't nosediving, but it's still angled downward. He looks out the windshield and sees ground in the distance. 14. He leans over the pilot's seat, grabs the yoke and pulls it upward. He feels the nose of the plane come up. 15. A few seconds later, a pilot (not an Israeli) comes up behind him and says “Release the controls, I'll take it.” 16. Yaniv wasn't sure whether the other pilot was trustworthy, but he said “ok” and let him sit down at the controls. He intended to supervise the new pilot. 17. Yaniv turns around and briefly helps the men who are dealing the terrorist blows to subdue him, since apparently the terrorist is still resisting. Eventually the terrorist stops resisting, he possibly gets knocked unconscious, and the men tie him up with headphone cables. 18. Yaniv also helps the men remove the wounded Indian pilot from the cockpit. Then he goes to close the cockpit door with himself and the replacement pilot inside. 19. At this point, a member of the flight crew arrives at the cockpit door and wants to come in. Yaniv asks the replacement pilot whether to let the crew member in. He says yes, he's with us. 20. The flight crew member comes in. He has a tablet with a map. Yaniv closes the cockpit door with the three of them inside. He latches it. 21. Now Yaniv is focused on checking that the replacement pilot and the crew member are acting properly to land the plane. He sees that the pilot is talking on the radio to ground control. It sounds good to Yaniv, even though he doesn't speak much English. Yaniv can tell he's reporting that there are injured people, that we're heading in a certain direction, and that he's requesting help. 22. Some of the other Israelis were assigned to guard the rest of the flight crew. At this point, they feared that the whole crew could be conspiring. This is why the entirety of the stressful incident was about 40 minutes long. They couldn't relax until they landed and the flight crew got off the plane. 23. When they landed, one of the Israelis on the plane bought eSIM cards with a data package for everyone. As soon as they get reception, he gets a bunch of messages with pictures of himself on international news. 24. The landing was an incredible celebration. Singing, what fun we were having. 25. Let's rewind. You wake up in the morning before getting on this flight. Did something prepare you for this engagement? Something in the army? Some instinct? “Well, in the army, I was working the closest to the fire in the kitchen. (I wasn't a cook, I'd, you know, get the food and divide it up.)” 26. Yaniv personally didn't feel scared to board the second FlyDubai flight they sent. What are the odds lightning would strike twice? “Even being in this situation once was like winning the lottery.” 27. Did FlyDubai offer some kind of compensation for the incident? Did they contact you at all? “Nothing.” 28. Will you fly again? “Fly again? Sure.” 29. When are you going back to work? “I want to on Sunday.” What an interview. Makes me proud to be Israeli.

Couldn’t recommend Adam’s CPD more. Reached out to our training lead immediately after attending session to tell him how impactful it had been. Delighted to put it into practice below…results below.
This is why @Carousel_Learn exists. To bring real solutions to real teachers in real classrooms, the next day. The day I did the webinar was rough. It's such hard work. The day started at 0700, and was straight through till gone 1800. I'm basically in a permanent state of exhaustion trying to get stuff like this out to people. Receiving messages like this...it's a joy.

Unbelievable that this was common knowledge a year ago.
The Mossad exposes efforts by Hamas to establish a network of operations in the heart of Europe intended to carry out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets, highlighting the involvement of the son of senior Hamas official Bassem Naim in the network. The Mossad says European law enforcement authorities, including in Germany and Austria, carried out a series of raids resulting in the exposure of weapons caches and the arrest of terror operatives. The Mossad says Hamas has been operating cells also in Denmark, Sweden, In Vienna, Austrian Security and Intelligence Service (DSN) uncovered a weapons cache containing pistols and explosive devices, located in a hideout belonged to a Hamas operative, Mohammed Naim, son of a senior Hamas official, Bassem Naim, who was arrested this month in the UK. The investigation shows that Mohammed Naim recently met with his father Bassem in Qatar, “indicating possible involvement of the Hamas leadership in promoting terrorism in Europe,“ the Mossad said. “The investigation into the Hamas terror network in Europe is currently examining the possible involvement of Hamas elements in Turkey in promoting the intentions of the attacks, some of which have been exposed,” the Mossad added. In addition to Naim, a senior operative in the infrastructure, Burhan al-Khatib, was arrested in Germany last November after being in Turkey.

Excellent summary
There are several main thrusts to the genocide libel. - One is Amnesty calling it a genocide even though they admit they have changed the definition of genocide to accuse Israel of it. - One is an ‘independent UN report’ by three UN workers with a history of anti Israel activism which hasn’t been adopted by the UN. - One is the ‘genocide scholars’ even though anyone (you don’t even have to be a scholar) can join the genocide scholars organisation and only 28 per cent of the 500 members voted in what was seen as a political hijacking. - And finally you have South Africa and others bringing a genocide case at the ICJ. Nations behind this such as Ireland have pushed for the definition of genocide to be changed. The court has said it will allow the case to be heard even though Palestine isn’t a country and it’s being brought by a third party leading to confusion that this is a ‘plausible case’ for genocide rather than the more complicated idea that South Africa can plausibly bring this case. In plain terms: Palestinians have a plausible legal right, under the Convention, to be protected from genocide, and South Africa has a plausible right to bring the case. That is all the word “plausible” referred to. The Court did not find that it was plausible Israel was committing genocide. In contrast you have facts. If Israel intended to commit genocide of the Palestinian people (and intent is the key word in the genocide definition) it would not have fed them, given them polio vaccinations, moved them to humanitarian zones when it tried to fight Hamas etc and there would be many, many, many more dead. That’s why you have these 6000 experts and genocide scholars saying it not a genocide. The genocide libel against Israel was started in the 1960s by the Soviets to attack America and Israel. It was pushed though the USSR via the UN and now trips off the tongue of antisemites everywhere who don’t understand that genocide is different to war. Antisemites and ignorants who basically want to call a people who were victims of an actual genocide, genociders to appease their guilt, steal Jewish victimhood, dismantle the case for Israel and label Jews the new Nazis.

Loved #thewargame on Sky. Very prosaic words from @ayeshahazarika. Feel sick at the inability of people to execute critical thinking especially with respect to social media

As we approach Yom Kippur, I am reminder of this clip of @NeilDiamond singing Kol Nidre from 'The Jazz Singer' (1980). Still one of the most beautiful & piercingly powerful renditions of this foundational Yom Kippur prayer!

It is interesting that following the debate on whether "Islam is Compatible With the West?" I was sent this video, shared on Instagram by Zonjy. He is confronted and assaulted by a male I believe is called Rambo313 on Instagram. We don't have blasphemy laws in the UK. Zonjy is entitled to make his videos. Rambo 313 is not entitled to assault him on the basis of some sense of dishonour to his religion.
