👷 Our cities weren't built for the car.
🚜 They were actively destroyed for it.

Bodes well for the few stations the metro promises - eventually !!!
Build it and they will come! More than double the predicted number of passengers used Beaulieu Park station in its first year

FT’s report on Lula’s comeback says Flávio Bolsonaro’s “nine fingers” jab in the final debate, mocking the finger Lula lost in a factory accident at 17 while working nights, became a turning point.
The attack let Lula draw a sharp contrast between his own working-class history and Bolsonaro’s background, helping shift momentum in the runoff.

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth.
Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why.

The cost of two adult returns? £11.80😱
I can give my car a full charge for less - as well as get an advanced train return to Cardiff!
Thankfully, the 2yo loved it. I'm still recovering.

Wales is facing really significant budget cuts in the coming years.
This chart shows how much both the resource and capital budget have changed year on year, accounting for inflation.
Resource spending pays for day-to-day running costs and public services, while capital spending invests in long-term assets.
In simple terms, capital spending will build you a hospital, resource spending funds the staff working in it every year.
(It's best to ignore the period around Covid because the big changes to consumption patterns out everything out of whack).
The Welsh resource budget it going down in real terms by 0.7% next year.
The future does look particularly grim when we look at the capital budget, which is set to fall in real terms in each of the next three years.
This would be the first sustained three-year reduction in the capital budget since the austerity period of the early 2010s.
This is what is severely limiting Wales' ability to make big capital investments. In simple terms it is going to be harder for Wales to build/improve/fix roads, schools and hospitals.
This is why it is doubly important Wales gets fairer treatment on funding - esp on our ability to borrow.
Right now, we have less borrowing powers than a council and a worse deal that Scotland.
To use a certain welsh vernacular here.
Tamping!!! 😡

And these days all the nonsense that goes with it.
Sadly.

Wales does not need a new Human Rights Act. We do not need yet another layer of statutory duties.
We have spent far too long on legislation like this which serves only to make the operation of government more sclerotic and allows a handful of politicians to grandstand.
A proposed Welsh Human Rights Act could give people stronger powers to challenge failures in public services. But ministers must first work out how to deliver that promise within the Senedd’s law-making powers wp.me/p8Mk4U-1ulz

“There is not in Europe any such thing as a pure race. Russians have an admixture of Tartar blood, Germans are largely Slavonic, France is a mixture of Celts, Germans, and people of Mediterranean race, Italy the same with the addition of the descendants of slaves from every corner of the Empire imported by the Romans. The English are perhaps the most mixed of all. There is no evidence that there is any advantage in belonging to a pure race. The purest races now in existence are the Pygmies, the Hottentots, and the Australian aborigines; the Tasmanians, thanks to the British, who were probably even purer are now extinct. There is a special absurdity in applying racial theories to the various populations of Europe.”

Imagine telling a Bournemouth fan 20 years ago that they'd beat both AC Milan and Manchester United 3-0 in the same week
Some days are just days that you know will be excellent goldbridge days.
Today will be one.

Some of the people who write about wales, or get asked to talk about wales.
Some of those who have been well in the mix for decades passing current comment - takes some front fair play.
I love that people want to make a difference but sometimes quiet reflection may be better
