The Prophet Nathan rebukes King David – Eugene Siberdt, c. 1897. The story: King David takes Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, and arranges for Uriah to be killed to conceal his wrongdoing. God sends the prophet Nathan to David, who tells him a story: a rich man with many sheep takes the only lamb of a poor man, a lamb the poor man loves dearly, and prepares it for a guest. David is outraged. He declares that the rich man deserves to die and must repay the poor man fourfold. Nathan then tells him: “Thou art the man!” David has condemned another man without recognising himself in the story. Nathan exposes his hypocrisy: David, despite his wealth and power, has taken another man's wife and caused that man's death.

I just learned that he has no mother or father to speak up for him. And now the Islamic Republic wants to hang him. His name is Ilya Ben Rashid. He is a young Iranian protester He has a younger sister. Now he is facing a death sentence. He was arrested during the January 2026 protests in Iran. A Revolutionary Court in Isfahan sentenced him to death on charges of “waging war against God” for allegedly damaging public property. He is being held in Dastgerd Prison. Reports say he was denied a lawyer of his choice. Imagine facing execution for demanding freedom. We must become his voice. We must stop his execution. Say his name. Save Ilya Ben Rashid. #StopExecutionsInIran
