The world remembers Martin Luther King Jr. But far fewer people remember his mother. Alberta Williams King spent her life serving her church, her family, and her community. She raised children who would help change American history. She survived the assassination of her son in 1968. She survived the death of another son in 1969. Yet she continued snowing up every Sunday, continuing the work she believed in. Then, on June 30, 1974, while playing the organ during a church service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, she was shot and killed. Her story reminds us that history is not only shaped by famous leaders. It is also shaped by the mothers who raise them, support them, and carry unimaginable grief long after the cameras leave. When people talk about the King family, do you think Alberta Williams King receives the recognition she deserves? 🙏🌹
