Bhakts keep calling me all sorts of names here: 'urban naxal' 'dirty/ugly leftist scum' 'Commie Bong whore'. So I thought I would lean into all this name calling and share a wonderful visual someone shared on Insta about all the things we have because of protests. Protests are indeed the lifeblood of a diminishing democracy.

I am looking for an intern (paid), remote, 10-20 hours per week (flexible), to be a TA for an online AI course. Work involves answering student questions; working with me to build AI-based systems for monitoring and evaluation—and then monitoring and evaluating those systems

On Bengaluru’s MG Road, a mother is turning passing moments into little memories, one photograph at a time. With her Polaroid camera in hand and her sweet baby by her side, she waits for people to stop by and get a picture clicked. But she hopes for more people to stop, not just for a photograph, but for a chance to keep doing what she loves and find more work. So, the next time you’re passing by MG Road, pause for a moment. Get a picture clicked, share a smile and say hello to her adorable little one, too! And if you know of an opportunity that could help her find more work, please reach out. Bengaluru, let’s help her camera capture more than memories. Let’s help it bring home opportunities, too. Know who she is? Tag her in the comments and help spread the word! #Bengaluru #BangaloreDiaries #SupportLocal #WomenAtWork [Polaroid photographer on MG Road Bengaluru, woman photographer seeking work in Bangalore, support local photographers]

26 Oct 2026 | NEM & Cyclone Arnab Update 🌀🌧️ Cyclone Arnab has officially formed over the Bay of Bengal! (Source: IMD) The system is likely to intensify further into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm and cross the Andhra Pradesh–Yanam coast between #Bapatla and #Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of 28 Oct, with forecast winds of 115–125 kmph, gusting to 140 kmph (indicative only) 🌧️ East Coast – Today & Tomorrow (26–27 Oct): Rain activity is expected to increase along coastal Andhra Pradesh, particularly #Ongole, #Bapatla, #Machilipatnam, #Kakinada and #Visakhapatnam, with more intense spells likely from tomorrow into 28 Oct. South Odisha, including #Ganjam, #Gajapati and adjoining districts, could also see heavy spells. Impact on Tamil Nadu rains? Delta districts: #Nagai, #Thiruvarur and #Thanjavur could see light to moderate rains during the day. South TN: #Kanyakumari, #Tirunelveli and #Tenkasi have chances of moderate spells during the day–evening hours. Most other parts of TN are likely to see subdued rainfall activity as the cyclone moves towards Andhra Pradesh. #Chennai & #Tiruvallur: Moderate rain spells remain possible tomorrow (oct 27-28), particularly over coastal and northern pockets, due to the pull effect. However, these chances are highly track-dependent and could reduce considerably if the cyclone moves farther north. Beyond 27–28 Oct: A relatively dry or subdued rainfall period appears likely across much of TN until around 31 Oct–1 Nov, with isolated spells still possible. Overall, Andhra Pradesh remains the main cyclone impact zone, while rainfall prospects for north TN will depend on how the system tracks over the next 24–48 hours.

Where Does the Northeast Monsoon Stand? ------------------------- Till date, the Tamil Nadu subdivision has received 215 mm of rainfall, with nearly half of the seasonal rainfall already recorded during the last 10 days of October. The climate normal for the Northeast Monsoon across Tamil Nadu, up to October 1 to December 31, is around 440 mm. With a good November expected, Tamil Nadu is well placed to cross the seasonal normal of 440 mm with ease.

My friend @santosheflu was actively involved in this work. Proud of you and your work my friend.
At 𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶, we have launched a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗺 responding to AI’s impact on education and growing mental health concerns. AI has democratised access to knowledge. Our focus therefore is now on giving students the confidence and skills to build independently. We have strengthened hands on learning and made research and project activities integral to undergraduate studies through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (𝗨𝗥𝗢𝗣), 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗨𝗥𝗢𝗣 and 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗥𝗢𝗣. Students engage with societal problems, with funding to develop and test solutions within the curriculum. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹’s industry mentorship and #𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 pathways help take these ideas towards ventures. We are spending over ₹50 crore this year upgrading undergraduate laboratories across Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad to reflect technological advances. We have also taken the lead in integrating 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 and 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 wellbeing, with about 60 hours of structured participation in fitness, creativity, wellbeing workshops, social conduct and community engagement. Approximately 250 faculty colleagues across departments and campuses have contributed to this revision of BITS Pilani’s undergraduate curriculum. Inputs from recruiters and alumni, along with feedback from student surveys, have helped shape the changes. The restructured curriculum includes: • Credit hours that account for the total student workload, including self study and reflection. This makes the demands we place on students more visible. • Greater emphasis on learning through design, prototyping, experimentation and projects, with more problem solving in the classroom. • A broad foundation across science, engineering and computing, alongside humanities, arts and social sciences. • Structured opportunities to progress from introductory undergraduate research to advanced projects and thesis work. • New pathways for entrepreneurship, research and industry practice embedded into Practice School. These help students identify problems, develop and test solutions, and take promising ideas towards products and ventures. For us, making room for these experiences is an important curriculum decision. Students need time to build healthy habits and meaningful relationships alongside their academic work. My thanks to the curriculum review team and everyone who contributed to this exercise. @bitspilaniindia @BITSAA @bitshyd @BITSPilaniGoa @BITSPilaniDubai --------------- BITS Pilani revamps UG curriculum to prepare students for AI era: Vice Chancellor - The Economic Times m.economictimes.com/industry…

Today to Tomorrow – We are in the Final Round of Rains from the Low dragged from the Arabian Sea towards the Bay of Bengal, against its wishes. ============= As Cyclone Arnab strengthens, the low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea is expected to be pulled towards the Bay of Bengal side, off the North Tamil Nadu coast, by tomorrow. We can expect easterly winds on the northern side of the circulation, from Cuddalore to Chennai. Meanwhile, southern Tamil Nadu districts such as Kumari, Nellai, Thoothukudi and Theni will experience westerly winds. Hotspot zone -------------- Heavy Rainfall Areas – Once again, the central interior and coastal districts, right from Villupuram to the Nilgiris, are in the hotspot for rainfall. Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Namakkal, Dindigul, Karur, Trichy, Madurai, Pudukkottai and Sivaganga are all in focus. The Delta belt and adjoining districts Trichy, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Puducherry, Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai all fall within the convergence zone for heavy rains. South TN ------------ Down south, Kumari, Nellai, Theni and Thenkasi are expected to receive an additional push from westerly winds (refer to the image). Chennai (KTCC) ---------- Up north, the KTCC (Chennai) region, along with Ranipet and Vellore, could receive moisture from the northern side of the circulation, with winds coming in from the sea. Today through tomorrow morning could be one final opportunity for KTCC (Chennai) to receive rains before we enter a break. Although computer weather models are not indicating much rainfall for Chennai, this particular wind pattern has brought rain to the city in the past. Let’s see how much Chennai manages to receive by tomorrow. Peak rains will be from night to mornings or mornings. Overall, another massive rainy day is on the cards for much of Tamil Nadu. Watch out for the Kodaikanal and Coonoor belts today, as easterly winds get trapped against the hills, potentially triggering heavy rainfall.
