Utah will begin enforcing its age verification law for adult websites this Monday, November 2, and state officials say they have new technology to find sites that arenโ€™t complying. The Utah Department of Commerce told FOX 13 it will crawl the web for commercial sites covered by SB73. Commerce Commissioner Margaret Woolley Busse said the law applies to any site where more than a third of the content is adult. Sites that fail to verify usersโ€™ ages face administrative fines of up to $2,500 per violation. โ€œIf youโ€™re looking at thousands of violations, then those add up quickly,โ€ Busse said. Busse said sites must use active age verification, โ€œnot just a site that offers a button where you claim you are.โ€ How a site verifies ages is โ€œup to them,โ€ she said. Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, sued over the law in April. In September a federal judge blocked one provision, which treated users on VPNs as if they were in Utah. The state says the rest of the law is enforceable. SB73 also placed a 2% tax on content sales by sites required to verify ages, which took effect October 1. @mikestabile of @FSCArmy, which represents the adult industry, said compliant sites are at a disadvantage because social media platforms and sites based outside the US arenโ€™t verifying ages. โ€œWe comply and nobody else does,โ€ he said. The coalition supports device-based verification. โ€œThat might be the ideal, but that might not be achievable,โ€ Busse said. The report did not address whether websites run by individual creators would be reviewed.

Under the UK's new law, someone who lawfully purchased consensually produced adult content in 2025 could face criminal liability for keeping the same content after November 6, 2026, even if they bought it directly from the performers depicted. The maximum penalty is two years' imprisonment. Adults producing content with other consenting adults and selling it to consenting adults is now a crime in the UK if the content is not approved by the paternalistic government. The parliamentary record identifies several important lobbying organizations: End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) UK Feminista Centre to End All Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) CARE (Christian Action Research and Education) As usual, the radical feminist organizations have colluded with the Christian right to control what consenting adults buy from other consenting adults to watch in their own homes. Well done.

A security hole sat inside the code behind about 70% of the websites you use for 14 years, and nobody found it. Then this summer several different security teams found it within a few weeks of each other, and every one of them was using AI. That second part is why security people are losing sleep this week. Here's how bugs like this normally get handled. A researcher finds a hole, quietly tells the people who maintain the code, and everyone gets time to build a fix before the public hears a word. Google's Project Zero made 90 days the standard. The whole thing assumes the person who found the bug is the only one who knows about it. For 14 years that was a pretty safe bet with PHP, because turning this flaw into a working attack took the kind of effort only a few elite teams could pull off. Wiz said frontier models let one researcher do in a week what used to take a world-class team months. Now watch what happened to the secret. Wiz logged its first find on August 19. The fix shipped October 21, nine weeks later, after a coordination effort that pulled in Cloudflare, CISA and the White House. Details leaked anyway, and PHP had to move the announcement up by a day. Amazon's honeypots had already caught someone trying the exploit on October 17, from an anonymized network, four days before a patch even existed. Once it went public, Cloudflare watched attack attempts climb from tens of thousands in the first 45 minutes to millions by the next day. When finding a bug like this took months of elite work, the odds that two people found the same one at the same time were tiny, so a nine-week quiet period was safe. When one person can do it in a week with a frontier model, and the good guys found it several times over, you pretty much have to assume somebody else found it too. Every day of careful, coordinated silence turns into another day the other side gets to use it. Amazon's advice after this one was to measure patch timelines in hours. The 90-day window was built for a world where a bug like this had one finder, and that world ended sometime this summer.
# Black October For anyone who knows me even somewhat well, it's clear that I am a 99th percentile tech optimist. However, the vibes have shifted for me quite a bit in the last 18 hours, and I feel a moral imperative to share what I'm thinking and feeling with my circles so that everyone can understand, and hopefully take seriously, what's happening right now. I think October 2026 will have many chapters written about it in the history books. You know those scenes in financial movies like Margin Call where someone realizes that they're all fucked, and no one else sees it yet? And that person feels like they're crazy, and then suddenly everyone is pulling an all-nighter in a boardroom and freaking out? Yeah, that's kind of how this is feeling right now in the SF/Bay Area/AI circles. We're 48 hours into what is being called Black October. In the last 2 days there have been several dozen cyber attacks which, in isolation, would each have been the worst to happen in an entire calendar year. Every sector from government to education to big tech and banks is being massively affected, and people are starting to freak out. In a nutshell, what's happened is that frontier AI models have gotten to a point where they are as advanced as the most sophisticated programmers, with one critical difference: they can work 24/7, and you can spin up 10,000 of them with a single command and they'll work together tirelessly until they accomplish their task. The most advanced models today are from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, whose current best technology is so good that they haven't been able to roll it out to everyone yet because of the national security risks it poses. Meanwhile, the best open source models (where anyone can just download the model weights and do whatever they want with them, uncensored) are slightly behind the frontier but still 90-95% as capable. These models, developed primarily in China, are being used by black hat hackers to wreak havoc on the Western capitalist structure. Presumably, this has been part of China's plan the entire time, and we're seeing its implications fall out in real time. In red-pilled AI circles, we've been sharing and reading papers called things like "Situational Awareness" and "AI 2027" for the last year or so, which at the time felt a bit like near-term speculative fiction. They laid out the case for why Artificial General Intelligence (AI smarter than any human at any knowledge task) and Recursive Self-Improvement (models that are able to use themselves to get better) weren't half-baked future ideas anymore, but instead an inevitable outcome of the linear progress that's happening. These papers would then talk about things like "takeoff scenarios," trying to envision how that moment would come to be and what it would be like when it happened. It would either be a "slow takeoff" that would play out over the course of months and quarters, happening subtly and only obvious to a few. Or, it would be a "fast takeoff" where it would pretty much happen instantly, like a bit flipping from 0 to 1. From everything that I can see and am feeling, we are currently experiencing the fast takeoff scenario. Beyond the crazy security vulnerabilities that have come out recently, there have also been massive breakthroughs in life sciences, fundamental computer science, materials science, and pure mathematics that have all landed in the same time frame. While I still firmly believe that AI will be a net positive for humanity, it's more clear to me than ever that the societal and individual risk is very real, and is playing out NOW. For as much conviction as I have that this is happening, the thing that's caused me to lose sleep is that I don't really know what to do about it, or more importantly, what to tell you, reader, to do about it. So, the best I can do is make a few suggestions that have always been a good idea but are more timely now than ever: Set up 2-factor authentication for everything. I use Duo. Use a password manager across your devices. I use 1Password. Get an identity protection app set up. I use Alta. Move your IoT devices to their own network. Claude helped me do this. And last, but certainly not least, if you've been avoiding leaning into AI, see this as a catalyst to wake up and start using it. Don't just use the chat mode version of ChatGPT/Claude; click that Code/Work button and see how easily you can have AI write code to help you with your job. One of the biggest vulnerabilities was in a massively popular programming language called PHP, and the prompt that set it off was literally, "Find vulnerabilities in php." This is an unprecedented time for humanity, but as we've done with many things before, we will prevail so long as we are kind, loving, and open-minded to the world. Much love.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed California's AB 1705, a law that makes adult content sites collect a verified email and a sworn consent statement from every person who uploads content. The statement must say, under penalty of perjury, that everyone shown was an adult when the content was made, agreed to be shown and agreed to the upload. Sites must verify the email before an upload goes live and keep the records for at least seven years. Both the site and the uploader can be sued. A person shown in the content can seek up to $75,000 per violation plus punitive damages and attorney fees. Public prosecutors can bring civil cases seeking $25,000 per violation. Each day non-compliant content stays up counts as its own violation. The law goes beyond existing federal 2257 recordkeeping rules and takes effect January 1, 2027. California sites will have to keep these records for seven years. Where do you think a creator should store records that long, and who should be allowed to see them? FANS: if you have been purchasing content from C4S for several years, understand that c4s is cleaning house & deleting "non compliant" content. This means, if you didn't download the clip you paid for & it contains, for example, sleepy, chloro, anything "forced", it may disappear. Download what you've already bought & contact c4s regarding any deleted content you paid for. The creators cannot recover it for you, this is a clips4sale thing, not a producer thing

The open weight models are taking big market share. I think these companies are very nervous. They realize that there are no moats around their business whatsoever, and they're trying to manufacture a crisis that will create regulation, and that they think they can then manipulate to create the moats, to create the duopoly that they want." Fellow creators, if you are approached about the ShareMyScene program, run. I've been part of the pilot program since April 2025. It allows you to resell your studio scenes on OnlyFans. After a year of thinking that I would be paying $5-$10 per scene sale for licensing....I got invoiced for 50% gross of sales. If any company or service is taking a percentage off what you page earns before OF takes it 20%.... Deeply unethical.
