Greta Thunberg raises awareness of the Kalimantan fires and haze crisis: “The fires and haze crisis is far from over. As terrifying as this footage is, the reality on the ground is much worse than what you see on social media. 2 million acres of forests have been destroyed by fires. Animals have been burned alive, people are dying and suffocating, villagers have lost their forests and rubber trees, firefighters have died, and 277,075 people have been hospitalized due to acute respiratory infections, including 62,400 children under the age of five. This situation has been ongoing for four months.
