It’s wonderful to see Ida Lupino highlighted on @criterionchannl for her acting roles. They have 13 films up as of today!
Every single one of them is worth seeing. For those less familiar with her work, though, I thought I’d try to lay out some priorities…

Just spoke with Jacques Pépin for a story. He's calm, healthy and cooking oysters and clams for dinner. He and his wife of 54 years will split a bottle of wine, like they do every night. This was the most comforting conversation I've had all day.

RIP kenny shopsin, my inspiration and fascination. your personality and daring is a constant reference and benchmark in my work. i celebrated anniversaries with my girlfriend at your restaurant, and crawled there with the direst of hangovers. take care. newyorker.com/magazine/2002/…

A lesson from Jonathan Gold's life for writers, especially young ones: When people are looking at the wrong things, keep talking about the right ones.
RIP. i interacted with rebecca a few times over the years (first at a very intimidating trail at marlow & sons in 2008), and i can confirm she was exactly and so much more the culinary badass and kind, generous person portrayed here. grubstreet.com/2018/05/salti…
