Last night was a reminder that no matter what my kids love me and I love them. We were down to our 4th option at Center and he didn’t get much reps at it during the week since he is our backup guard also… As mad as I was at the time of how everything transpired I know that kid gave me all he had just like he’s done for 4 years. I’m sure he was uncomfortable and heard the chirping from the stands but he kept on trying because we needed him. The same kid wanted to quit in the spring because he thought he wouldn’t play much this year, I told him to stick it out and see it through. Glad he has been able to play a lot this year even in this tough year we’ve had. I’ll never question the heart of my kids even through the storm.

A positive attitude won't allow you to do anything, but it will help you to do everything better than a negative attitude would.

The fastest way to get ahead is to become obsessed with solving problems. Stop seeing obstacles as reasons to quit. Treat them as challenges that teach you valuable lessons. Every failed attempt gives you information that can make the next one better.

Good habits reduce the number of times you have to rely on motivation or willpower.
When discipline, preparation, integrity, and responsibility become part of your daily life, making the right choice begins to feel more natural.
The decisions you practice today prepare you for the challenges you will face tomorrow.
Build habits that support the person you want to become.

I’ve watched the newspaper business and high school sports coverage change quite a bit since I started doing this. One thing hasn’t: the value of having reporters who know the schools, understand their history and tell the stories behind the scores. I’m grateful the Chronicle gives me the chance to do that across Houston.
