Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Colin Sutton, has contributed £140,000 to help fund extra police resource over the next two years in the market town of Thetford. The decision follows a period of heightened tensions and protests in Thetford following the announcement that RAF Barnham was being considered by the Home Office as a site for large scale asylum accommodation. In response to recent disorder, Breckland Council invested Home Office funding in an additional police officer in Thetford, with Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner agreeing to fund a further officer for the area for two years to help maintain increased police visibility. 🚨SHOCKING: Last week I told Labour on Politics Live that their tagging plans wouldn't keep victims safe. Now the Met Commissioner himself reveals they're re-arresting 2 or 3 early release prisoners a week and recording over 100 tag breaches a day. So many victims will be terrified to hear that.
I’ve sat in court and watched criminals breach their tags and exclusion zones, and all they get is a slap on the wrist. Nothing happens. If this is the plan to keep victims safe, it’s a terrible one.

My main criticism of the early release scheme, aside from the fact it was the wrong way to create prison capacity in any event, was that no qualitative assessment of the risk posed by individual prisoners was undertaken. Simply an exercise in arithmetic - how long have they served? Hence those who will inevitably reoffend are being set free amongst us. As in this case, evidenced by this extraordinary letter from a senior police officer.

Those of us from the era get fewer as each year passes but the @metpoliceuk @MPSHaringey always turn out in force. Keith Blakelock and the sacrifice he made will never be forgotten.

At this stage we are witnessing the Labour government and police helping facilitate mass law-breaking by mostly young men arriving on our South Coast. The State itself is enabling a breakdown in the Rule of Law, and using the awesomeness of the power at their disposal to do it.

Truth is, my predecessor, elected for @UKLabour, made cuts to funding for a number of charities involved in supporting domestic abuse victims, including the Sue Lambert Trust. That was anathema to me, I have reinstated the funding and in some cases will be able to extend it. The Sue Lambert CEO will be getting a letter in the next day or two explaining this. Domestic Abuse is one on my priorities and I will support its victims as much as I can.
Vital words from @CommissionerDA. But a public health model requires sustained funding. @colinsutton the @NorfolkPCC wants the Sue Lambert Trust to turn away survivors seeking our only specialist, trauma-informed healing. Stop the cuts, sign the petition: c.org/LtSCmdKmgg

🚨 HIGH PRAISE FOR NEW BOOK ON JOE BUGNER 📣 “It is rare to come across a sports biography written by an author so immersed in their subject that it takes the reader on a journey deep into what it means to be human, using his subject’s own personal struggles as template.   🥊 “This is the feat achieved by David Tossell with his recently published biography of iconic British heavyweight, Joe Bugner. Titled The Bugner Identity, the book unpacks Bugner’s legacy as one of the best heavyweights to ever represent Britain on the world stage.” ✍️ @JohnWight1 in @M_Star_Online

This is breathtakingly out of touch from the MP for Suffolk Coastal. Jenny Riddell-Carpenter dismisses the image of a country pub, a pint of ale and a Labrador as a nostalgic Britain that “never really existed”, wrapped up in what she calls a “far-Right” vision of the countryside. She should come back from Westminster and actually look around the constituency she represents. Come to rural Suffolk. Visit our country pubs. Meet the landlords trying to keep them open, the farmers fighting for their livelihoods and the communities desperately trying to preserve the character of their villages. She might learn something. The most extraordinary part? She is a DEFRA Minister with responsibility for RURAL COMMUNITIES. Her job is literally to understand and fight for this way of life. Instead of sneering at it from London, come back to Suffolk, educate yourself about the communities you represent and start fighting for them.

After a week in which 1655 illegal migrants came to the UK in 24 boats, taking the number since @uklabour came to power to more than 83000, the Home Secretary announces a scheme to import even more. A scheme that nobody has had the chance to vote for. metro.co.uk/2026/09/28/home-…

Multiple policy announcements at @uklabour conference today. How many were in the manifesto they were elected on? Very few. Indeed, about one and a half. They have no mandate for these huge changes in direction. We need a General Election now.

Today's gaslighting from our @uklabour Prime Minister is that Brexit made it more difficult to deport illegal immigrants. He is talking about the Dublin III agreement, which we left when we exited the EU. Fact is, more than 90% of the deportations we asked for under this agreement were refused and in practice its operation meant we took more than twice as many in as we were allowed to deport:
