Every single company with customer data WILL be targeted, and many will be hacked. The best we can do is learn from those that weee breached AND share details in public. Also: “the malicious actor had access to abliterated models and substantial compute resources which enabled them to perform highly sophisticated exploits against our infrastructure.”

It's time to retire long-lived static credentials. We surveyed 1,000+ SaaS vendors and found only 8.4% support secure auth. This is our call to action and how we're doing our part. vercel.com/blog/death-to-lon…

At this point, if you’re in software and aren’t currently working on a plan for moving to formal verification, it’s irresponsible. The writing is on the wall. This needs to be your priority now.
New on our Frontier Red Team blog: using Claude to formally verify software at large scale. Formal verification can prove that code is free of certain bugs, but historically it has only been feasible for small codebases (or required a lot of expert time). With AI models, however, this is beginning to change. In collaboration with @theoremlabs, we used Claude to prove security properties in over one hundred real-world open-source libraries over the span of a few weeks. Super good read. My thoughts * I think the "let's hire less juniors" is short-sighted. Not because I have a stake in the game (1k interns a year!) but actually because I don't remember a revolution in tech or otherwise that didn't happen with a youth movement. ie. they will be more naturally AI pilled than the rest of us — So stop hiring young people and see what happens! I do agree that WHAT you are looking for changes, but not at the expense of the new grads tbh * I like looking for judgement and autonomy as part of the hiring process * Attention remains a large bottleneck * Super interesting that non-tech is growing faster than tech roles — but makes sense as the chart shows they are not getting the same gains as tech folks. I'm still surprised that the domain experts pivoting to AI/tech is happening faster than tech folks can pivot to the new domain? I think this is new. "I expect models to continue to be jagged, so for my team I want them to be fungible across domains" * Engineers to PM ratio growing makes sense. i.e. Also engineers making more decisions btw * Employees switching depts at faster rates is amazing and highly recommended btw * 80% of Claude time is waiting for humans 🤯 * "the median employee spends 20% more time in meetings than a year ago" — surprising or not surprising... * If the agent can't see it it didn't happen — ie you kinda have to work in public anthropic.com/research/emplo…

The problem seems to be that the banks can't tell if the agents have been given permission by their users to access their accounts or not. Every big AI company is in the process of launching a proactive agent with access to everything. This is going to turn into a big issue.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

I cannot remember any single day with SO MANY critical security breaches / disclosures, which would impact so many sites/companies/users And have to admit that the two big labs (and especially Ant) has been warning of THIS type of thing happening, since Mythos announcement
There are five separate ongoing security incidents referenced in this list

Stoked about this - the world is about to get much weirder, our political economic imaginations have to keep up!
AI agents could make organizations far more productive, but leave people more isolated and less autonomous. We've teamed up with @inherent_labs on an essay prize exploring how organizations can harness AI while strengthening human autonomy and fulfillment. We're thrilled that @lugaricano, @gleech, @divyasiddarth, and Chris Summerfield are joining us as judges. blog.cosmos-institute.org/p/…

As an extrovert, some of these blow my mind. 26% of Americans didn’t go out for breakfast a SINGLE time in 365 days? 54% didn’t go to a sports game and 51% didn’t go to a bar/tavern even once? Even with the increase, 68% of adults didn’t attend a single concert? Are there people out there that just don’t do anything??
Interesting that almost every form of social activity has dropped over the last 30 years except going to concerts. That has increased and probably at a very high record level. Their value rose probably because the alternatives have weakened.

The NSA is telling American companies to take production systems offline. The AI-era of cybersecurity has fully arrived.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

As LLMs evolved into agents, earlier best practices no longer serve us well. This new research field needs a field guide, so we wrote one. If you're new to agent evals, please take a look. Seasoned researchers and those interested in steering the community will also find many useful observations. sage.cs.princeton.edu/trends…
New paper: AI evaluation is a burgeoning field. How can researchers entering the field understand best practices and open problems? In our paper, led by @flxcn, we develop a concrete list of open questions and best practices for agent evaluation. We also share recommendations for evaluators, AI companies, policymakers, and more.

Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

This is directionally consistent with our internal data @cognition. Many tasks within software engineering are now "intelligence saturated." Once any model can do the task well, cost and speed are all that matter.
OpenAI, Anthropic and other leading AI labs face a growing challenge: Better models aren't necessarily attracting more usage. A 10-point intelligence advantage now earns just 20% more developer traffic, down from nearly 69% in late 2025. Full story: thein.fo/4hGJ9jY

There is nothing more infuriating than trying to get onto the Gardiner from Leslieville since city council tore down the on-ramp. It used to take 10 minutes. More than once it’s taken me close to an hour. For people who don’t live here, that’s an hour to go a couple of kilometres
Toronto is a hot mess. What should have been a 10 minute commute is now 43 mins and counting. #TOpoli

Google Research has open-sourced Harness², a framework that enables AI agents to improve their own prompts, tools, memory, and workflows. It tests different configurations and carries useful lessons into future tasks while keeping the underlying model unchanged. An increasing number of releases concerning self-improving models are being published.

This messes with my mind ALL THE TIME When I do stuff with AI I am an *expert* in (eg coding on my project I know well, or doing research in an area I am very familiar with) I spot problems/errors/the model BS'ing me immediately. No big deal, I have it correct or start again BUT when I'm not an expert in an area, I find that I trust it, and then later learn it does stupid stuff. Like a case when I asked 3x AI models to give feedback on a legal case (that I also paid a lawyer for, but lawyer was slow). All 3x models confidently told me X, lawyer then told me Y, and lawyer was right
Claude Opus 5.5 is great, and most of the time, the solution is similar to how I'd implement it myself. However, every now and then, I find terrible design decisions that would fail in production, and that's when I realize how important software engineering is, and will be, years from now.

It's remarkably short-sighted for websites to block AI agents. Agents WILL become the way most people transact online - block them and you'll lose a ton of customers. And I suspect LLMs will get better at browser use faster than humans will improve at detecting them...
notice.. > Delta is blocking AI agents from booking flights > JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab block agents from accessing accounts > Yelp requires paid data licensing for agents > Amazon has blocked Grok bot and other shopping agents. the internet is starting to block AI agents that were supposed to do everything for us
