Networking & Cybersecurity: Beyond the Technical Skills.
I recently came across an idea that got me thinking about the relationship between problem-solving and value:
" If you want to make money, solve problems.
If you want to make good money, solve expensive problems.
If you want to make great money, solve expensive problems for people who can afford to pay for the solutions."
We all solve problems, but not all problems carry the same weight.
Think about networking and cybersecurity.
Combining networking and cybersecurity skills means being able to build and maintain reliable network infrastructure, troubleshoot connectivity issues, understand how systems communicate, identify suspicious activity, investigate potential threats, and help protect organizations from costly security incidents.
The real value goes beyond the technical work itself. It's in keeping businesses connected, ensuring systems run reliably, strengthening security, and protecting organizations from disruptions and potential threats.
From structured data cabling and patch panel termination to rack organization and network switch connections, every stage contributes to building reliable IT infrastructure.
It's more than connecting cables. It's about creating a foundation that businesses depend on to communicate, operate, and deliver their services.
As I continue to build on my experience in IT and deepen my knowledge of cybersecurity, I'm continually reminded that a solid understanding of the fundamentals is essential to seeing the bigger picture. Because before we can effectively protect networks, we need to understand how they work.
The greater the impact of a problem, the more valuable an effective solution can become.
This is why continuous learning matters in IT and cybersecurity. The more complex the problems we can confidently solve, the more opportunities we may create for ourselves.
We all have skills. The question is, what problems can we solve with them?
Money follows value. Value is created when we provide solutions to problems people are willing to pay to have solved.

I took some time off to build something for people learning networking and preparing for their first roles in tech.
Introducing Broken NetLabs
A collection of broken network labs for aspiring Junior Network Engineers, Data Centre Network Engineers, NOC Engineers, and anyone looking to build real-world troubleshooting skills.
Download a lab, find the faults, fix them, and document your solutions in public. You'll also sharpen your technical documentation skills along the way.

Happy troubleshooting! Feel free to share this with someone in your network who could benefit from it.
Congratulations scholar 🧑🏫
Alhamdulillah! 🎓
✅ B.Sc. Computer Science (First Class Honours)
✅ BGS, Computer Science Department
CGPA: 4.73/5.00
Still feels unreal. I was never the department's top scholar at any level until after my final year.

I built an Excel-based resource by compiling publicly available data from the Erasmus Mundus Nigeria Facebook Page.
It helps prospective applicants identify suitable Erasmus Mundus programmes based on their field of study.
