Remember watching this game on TV (and clips of it have been hard to find). One of the most improbable finishes & wins in the Colts' 43 seasons in Indianapolis.
October 21, 1984
The Immaculate reception #Colts style.
Pagel throws a pass over the middle that is bobbled, Ray Butler grabs it out of the air and 💨 54 yard game winning touchdown

The average driver drives 29 miles a day. That's pretty incredible mobility. Auto centric design is a policy success for personal mobility.

Reminds me of the days when the local NBC affiliate pre-empted the first Winter Classic (the one where Crosby scored the shootout winner in the snow) so it could air a rerun of Oprah.

More impressive than the Hawk's 1987 MVP season is his work as a funeral home director. He and his wife Vanessa purchased a funeral home in Miami that was struggling.
Their work is a ministry comforting the grief-stricken. He serves an underserved area of Miami, an area that needs his services.
Thank you for recognizing Andre Dawson, the man, not just the Hall of Fame ballplayer.
Today, I was proud to present the Governor’s Medal of Freedom to Baseball Hall of Famer and great Floridian Andre Dawson. His distinguished career in Major League Baseball, his contributions to the sport, and his lasting impact on our state have earned him this award.
From his childhood in Southwest Miami, to his college days at FAMU, to his legendary MLB career, “The Hawk” has represented Florida in the best possible way for decades. His generous support of FAMU and its baseball program has helped generations of student-athletes succeed. The Governor’s Medal of Freedom is the highest honor I can bestow on any Floridian, and Andre Dawson truly deserves this recognition.
I'll trust Mike Chappell's sources over anyone's. There is nobody more plugged into what's happening with the Colts.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if PM *was* contacted, even if just to consult as to who should be hired.
I've listened to the @dpshow snippet about the Colts and Peyton Manning. I don't question Dan's source at all. I will say this, according to my source, the Colts HAVE NOT reached out to Peyton at this point. That's not to say they won't.
One of the first concepts I teach when teaching supply, demand and prices in econ ... buyers and sellers don't compete, they *cooperate*.
Buyers compete with buyers (just go onto eBay or try to buy a house). Sellers compete with other sellers to get your business.
Greed can motivate sellers to raise prices, but buyers are greedy too. They want the best deal for the least money. And another seller might better satisfy his own greed for profit by undercutting the competition and attracting more customers.
Sellers compete with sellers, buyers compete with buyers, and both have competing interests. A seller can ask whatever price he wants, but he can't force anyone to pay it.
The beauty of market competition is that satisfying your own interests often requires satisfying someone else's.

But getting back to respectability is a long process. And the new regime won't have a 2027 1st rounder, plus several cornerstone players in final year of contract (Buck, Q). Fan base is angry and wanted a change. Understandable. But brace yourself for some lean years.

Do coaches & GMs in professional sports know what they’re getting themselves into?
Yes
Is it still weird for fans (regardless of team) to celebrate someone being fired?
Yes
Expected *something* to happen after yesterday.
The negative is that you have an interim GM negotiating the trade deadline with no first-round pick. The positive is that you get a head start on the league in identifying and interviewing potential candidates.
Looking forward to another season of Dragons girls basketball.

You notice anything?
Look at what separates the two groups.
It isn't technology.
It isn't complexity.
It's one variable: how much the state is involved.
At the top, sectors that are subsidized, regulated, shielded from competition, where the state funds demand and blocks supply.
At the bottom, sectors where companies fight every single morning to serve you better and cheaper.
We’re always really proud of our kids, but it’s especially special for me - who basically majored in the IDS during my four years at IU - to see Aaron’s work in the same publication that has meant so much to me and many of my friends.
