I couldn't have asked for better timing, it's #MarioDay and just a day after the Mario RPG anniversary. Here is my finished, hand painted Geno Statue!

I did alot of research for this week's episode and let me tell you, the term "flow state" does not mean what you think it does if you've read where it came from.
This week's episode we discuss how a game might be better when it's a little "worse". We discuss the book Flow and how dubious its claims actially are. Is getting *in the zone* any different than being stuck at a slot machine?

Reteaching myself video editing to do something silly
Last week's episode our highly scientific query, "Which Paper Mario Has the Best Partners?" quickly devolved into bullying multiple characters, laying out our romantic desires for paper, and worst or all forgetting about Lakilester

This week's episode we have our first debate! Game Collecting: Preserving or Hoarding? Kyle explains how to collect on a budget, while Jorge blasts the games industry for enabling a toxic hustle. The only winner of this debate is you, dear listener!

Jorge and I spent over three hours discussing just how amazing the games are in UFO50. Even if you haven't played, we try to explain why this collection is a love letter to game history.
This week's episode we're hosting our own Game Awards using only titles from UFO 50! Best Adaptation, Best Performance, Best...Golf Game?! Hear us celebrate how to do retro revivals right with a deep dive into 50 of our favorite games of 2024. Link below!

Happy Monster Hunter day. I helped a tiny bit on this very, very large sword from Wilds. More importantly though I got to play with it before we sent it out.

New Brainlords as we settle in to our biweekly schedule. Had alot of fun coming up with my personal most overrated, most underrated, and most adequately rated game.
It's Wednesday so that means you have a 50% chance of Brainlords! And what luck! This week forget the most overrated or underrated game, what does it mean for a game to be *adequately rated*? Good or bad, which one does everyone agree on?

@Jmanvelez and I just started a podcast, Brainlords: Video Games of the Mind! It's like video essays without the uh...video! Each episode we explore topics like "What is the most adequately rated game?" and "Why do kids keep playing Earthbound?"
Welcome to Brainlords: Video Games of the Mind, a panel style show between artists and the art they love. Join us each week as we discuss an essay topic on video games, art, and culture to answer the ultimate question, are video games art?!? (yeah dude)

Final day of Games Done Quick! I've got several prizes that can be won throughout today. Some Elden Ring sculptures to go with the Saxophone run and a Metroid Missile to help close out the event.

Special thanks to @Azure_Props for her sculpt on the Erdtree bottle opener and @squibyprops for his sculpt and cleanup on the Flask of Crimson Tears. They both do amazing SFX work and I'm always honored to work with them.

Storyteller Cosplay and I teamed up to donate two Zelda themed props for this year's Games Done Quick. She tackled the Tri Rod, modeled by The Dangerous Ladies, and I did the Master Sword. These are a grand prize you could get by donating over $250 cumulatively.

I cannot stress how proud I am of her. This thing is 40 inches long, with a gorgeous gloss pearl gradient. It's seamless, you literally can't tell where the segments were glued together or how it was mounted for painting. She's really come a long way with her SFX work.

@cutemonsterprop was bummed about not making an MTG advent calendar for me this year so I surprised him with this. ☺️ There are 24 packs and we have been opening 2 each a day and playing so that on Christmas, we’ll finish opening them all. 🥰 @wizards_magic

Cool Stuff I worked on in 2024 part 4: The League of Legends Hall of Champions Trophy was for Riots hall of fame. It has a lot going for it, a suspended chrome gem, a huge clear casting, and actual concrete. THIS IS NOT A RENDER. This is how it looks in real life!

Cool stuff I worked on in 2024 part 1: A (larger than) life sized Gekko Statue from Valorant complete with display stand, a real skateboard, and a working screen. Materials and techniques-wise this had a little bit of everything.

Cool stuff I worked on in 2024 part 2: At the same time as the Gekko I spent significantly more time on two Killjoy Turrets from Valorant. These actually move so the top had to be cast in incredibly thin fiberglass to make it roomy and lightweight enough to pivot on a motor.
