A Union Minister has proposed replacing Aadhaar-based beneficiary identification with biometric authentication and Voter ID (EPIC) numbers.
WELFARE IS A CITIZEN’S ENTITLEMENT, NOT A POLITICAL FAVOUR.
Improve verification.Eliminate fraud. Protect public money.
But NEVER allow administrative identification systems to become instruments of exclusion.
The government owes the people a clear explanation before proceeding.
Technology must serve the people.
Administration must protect the vulnerable.
WELFARE IS A PUBLIC RESPONSIBILITY, NOT A POLITICAL CONCESSION.
The Constitution must remain supreme. No identification system should become an instrument of exclusion.

The Agnipath scheme has not been discontinued. It will continue. Secondly, this second engagement period of two years gives those Agniveers who have not been selected in the first four years a chance to serve longer. Their relative experience, qualifications and skills are relative. It's not that they are bad; it's relative. So, in these two years, they get a chance to serve longer in the Army, with the provision that they can be enrolled as regular soldiers. So this is a win-win situation for both..."

Agnipath treated the armed forces as a temporary employment scheme.
Four years of service ending in parking jobs and unemployment queues was predictable — and unpardonable.
The recent six-year extension is damage control, not a solution.
It does not fix the core failure: India still lacks a serious plan to absorb trained soldiers into meaningful civilian roles.
India 🇮🇳 that uses its youth for short-term military service and then abandons them weakens both its army and its social fabric.

#Watch | On November 4, 2026, the Union Cabinet approved a proposal extending the engagement period of Agniveers by two years. Chief of Defence Staff General N.S. Raja Subramani confirmed 25% of Agniveers will be absorbed into regular armed forces after four years based on merit. The remaining 75% will be offered an additional two years of service, after which unselected recruits face return to civilian life without government job reservations. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated this structural reform prepares India’s military for future warfare. First introduced in 2022 to modernise forces and reduce pension costs, the Agnipath scheme impacts short-term recruitment across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Total uncertainty, total loss of confidence (in recruits' minds).
What next change will come soon? Who knows!
