I took a stab at improving the performance of Elixir. I used the PR for Elixir that @ZachSDaniel1 posted and worked some more on it. In the benchmark Elixir is now faster than Rust (ccece30 newest commit) for the Sidebar and Search benchmark.
Last conversion of the Campfire from my token stash goes to JavaScript/Express. As with the others, I'm sure you can find more to optimize. But this gives you a sense of what order of magnitude these options exist within with agent-led development. github.com/basecamp/once-cam…

> If the agents can't write good Elixir without good steering
Nah, that's not my point.
Within "Rewrite this in Elixir", there are a bunch of non-Elixir decisions that will impact the results. Should you preserve session compatibility? Should you preserve Redis messages and payloads? If you didn't give the answer, it made the choice for you, and that will change the results.
For example, the agent chose Redis compability and even documented so in the README. This is an architectural decision completely unrelated from its ability to write Elixir code but it will make it so Elixir now has to talk to an additional service, while Go and Rust doesn't have to.
> Same as what was used for Go, Laravel, Rust, etc.
If that's the case, why was Go ported from Rust but the Elixir one from Rails (according to their AGENTS.md)?
Anyway, someone already wrote a pull request here:
github.com/zachdaniel/once-c… - you probably want to look at the load testing benchmarks cause the Rust one seems to be dropping messages.

IT'S HERE!
This is Imp: declarative self-Improving language model programming in Elixir.
It's a port of DSPy to the BEAM ecosystem. That means you get signatures, optimizers, agent loops, retrieval and more, all with the reliability and concurrency of the actor model and the elegance of Elixir.
This started as a test of the models' ability to port things across languages, but it's become much more advanced, with Optimize-Anything support and full-fledged MCP and ACP adapters as well. Basically a whole kit of building blocks for anything you want to make.
If you're interested in the DSPy paradigm, Elixir, text optimization, or weird code ideas in general, give it a look and tell me what you think!
Imp is experimental, it's 0.5.0, it probably needs some expensive benchmarking to prove its optimizers really work. I'd love to get the kinks worked out before doing that haha. Imp is open source, MIT licensed, and hopefully easy to read. Given enough agents, all bugs are shallow, right?
Now, without further ado:
Imp!

If coding agents will write most of our code, what happens with our communities and sense of ergonomics? How does it impact our compilers and tools?

Try to install also this one, it should give your model more power for elixir.

I would love to hear what is their definition of coding because, if I asked most people today (or 5 years ago), they would consider preventing, finding, and fixing bugs to be part of coding (as well as designing, refactoring, etc).

Today, we're open sourcing the first computer-use dataset for design.
We captured 200+ hours and 3400+ trajectories of real design work in Figma, recording step by step how designers execute complex, long-horizon tasks.

People are sleeping on Elixir for a coding harness:
* Hot-code swapping allows you to build an extensible plugin system similar to Pi, which reloads live without dropping state
* Designing a client-server architecture, similar to OpenCode, is basically a byproduct of the actor model (plus you get both IO/CPU concurrency)
* The built-in distribution means you can easily isolate the brains (model + session) from the hands (sandbox + tools). For example, you can the agentic session on your machine which coordinates agents executing inside Docker or a remote node. Or even have one agent session coordinate multiple nodes (this is basically how Livebook works anyway)
Those can definitely be built from scratch in other languages, but in Elixir the building blocks are basically part of the runtime.

Hey Elixir friends! :) A real event system comes to Hologram - v0.10 is out! You can now handle keyboard, scroll, resize, click-outside and scroll-edge events, bind handlers to the window and document, and debounce or throttle the noisy ones, all in your templates with compile-time checks. To show it off, I rebuilt Space Invaders in pure Elixir, running in the browser with no game engine. Plus a new server-side middleware layer, and comprehensions and try/rescue now run the same on the client as on the server. More here: hologram.page/blog/hologram-…
