Spent a lovely day today at Alnwick and Bamburgh. Couldn't resist calling into the @Alnwicklions bookshop which is a fantastic bookshop. Do give it a visit if you can. Picked up a gem in a signed copy of Laddie Lucas' biography of Douglas Bader #books #history #ww2 #bookshelf

In the most heavily policed and surveyed part of the whole UK he just calmly goes about his nasty business. Let’s hope they throw the book at him.
Replying to @HeidiBachram
His name is Olax Outis and he has been arrested for targeting Elbit System in The Netherlands. He went on hunger strike for a month in solidarity with Palestine Action thugs. He’s a nasty import.

In this 1945 British newsreel, tanks are raced across a three-mile, all-terrain course at a proving ground in an undisclosed location. According to the narrator, the course was designed to 'strain the tanks to their utmost'. Film: IWM WPN 221

Hello mate I'm hoping you maybe able to assist I'm head of maintenance at a care home in Devon and I have a resident who turns 100 this year He's ex tankie and doesn't have his medal that he earned A colleague and I are busy sorting that and have applied for it. We took him to the local rememberance last year which was his first actual trip outside the home in years. Tpr Frank Goodison 14851797 28/9/44 to 9/1/48 War medal 39/45 Rather than just handing over his medal once it arrives I'm trying to find someone of seniority in his cap badge that could present it? He's a good bloke and we'd like to look after him

After much debate, I can confirm that it is impossible for a historian to go away on holiday and not find gun emplacements, bunkers and dragons teeth to gaup at and ramble on about to their travel companions #historian #history #ww2 #amsterdam #nether
