David Eby's legacy will be going from someone who wrote a book on your civil rights while being arrested to overseeing the raids on Wet'suwet'en territory as attorney general to centre right neoliberalism that led to conservatives winning for the first time in over a century

I’m glad Zionists are sharing this masterclass in public speaking by @comrade_kumar_ because he stayed on message and didn’t fall for their weaponized crying white woman/fake accusations of antisemitism schtick, and he repeated again and again that Zionism and Judaism are two different things and the Green Party isn’t saying anything about Judaism.

Too few people in Canada have the slightest idea what is actually going on.
Neoliberal financialisation will go down in history as the West’s most catastrophic economic blunder.
A self-inflicted act of economic vandalism that sacrificed productive industry at the altar of speculative greed.
Vladimir Putin moved to reverse Russia’s disastrous 1990s shock therapy, rejecting the economic wreckage of that era in favour of restoring state control over strategic sectors.

Near-zero interest rates for 21 years -- from 2001 after the dotcom bubble collapsed to 2022 when households were no longer able to pay more for housing -- drove a housing price inflation that, for example, has left 34% of Canadian renters paying more than 50% of their take-home pay for rent, a typical scenario across the neoliberal West.
In 2022, when no further upside remained in residential real estate, big money moved on to AI stocks and data centers, where it has been plundering governments and environments ever since.
The brazenly insulting narrative to excuse more than tripling the price of a house in 21 years is that "demand" by households for a family home -- especially "demand" by the handiest of handy scapegoats, "Immigrants!" -- has so outstripped the "supply" of houses that "Economics 101: Supply and Demand," an immutable law of nature similar to gravity, necessitates that housing prices skyrocket without limit.
What actually occurred is that cheap money chases unearned income, and the greater the supply of cheap money (near-zero interest rate money) the more likely the demand by holders of financial assets for higher prices will be met.
Housing, of course, was concurrently repurposed from structures in which people dwell to financial assets whose function is to increase in price. Why? Because nobody willingly becomes homeless, and everybody prioritizes paying their mortgage or their rent.
People will pay whatever prices speculators in housing are able to extract, so gouging them for a place to live is a sure thing, way surer and requiring way less creativity than conceiving of and producing necessary, useful products that would benefit humanity, as opposed to ripping everybody off.

Where are Ford's scandals cooked up?
Apparently Leafs games are a popular venue.
🚨 Last year, David Piccini had front-row seats with a lobbyist.
💰 Who then received $7.5 million taxpayer dollars through the skills development fund.
Now it turns out developers, lobbyists and senior government staff met in a private Leafs box on the day the Greenbelt legislation was passed.

no matter how hard our universities' administrations try to bring education back to normal, one missile is enough to undo everything they've been working so hard to rebuild.
Canadian internet users may soon have their data handed to US authorities, with no Canadian judge involved and no Canadian court order required.
That is the core of what Bill C-22 enables. Canada is negotiating a cross-border data-sharing agreement with the US that lets American law enforcement request information about Canadians directly from service providers, bypassing Canadian judicial oversight entirely.
And it does not stop there. C-22 also lets the Minister of Public Safety order companies to build encryption backdoors, and mandates that telecom and messaging platforms retain your metadata for up to a year, regardless of whether you are under any suspicion.
Is this not a sovereignty problem? A country that cannot protect its own citizens' digital lives from foreign law enforcement is not in control of its internet.
The bill has passed the House and is now in the Senate. The window to push back is closing fast.
If you are Canadian, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association has a petition. Use it please before it's too late.

David Eby governed like a substitute teacher trying desperately not to lose control of a classroom that did not respect him as a real authority figure. Whole election was about nothing but his own self-interest and no surprise the voter base he alienated sat it out & stayed home.

"No, the film tells us something far more shaming. It tells us who we are. It tells us exactly what the pillars of our western “civilisation” stand on."
#freepalestine #naza
There was a deeper reason why the film NAZA left the entire audience speechless.
This film isn’t about the tangible, visible horror of Gaza. It was about something more hidden, something far closer to home.
This was about the horror lurking within each of us. What the German-Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt called “the banality of evil”.
We were stunned, I think, by the realisation that the 24 Israelis up on the screen – each of whom admitted, often dispassionately, sometimes a little proudly, carrying out the most monstrous of crimes – could have been our son or daughter, our brother or sister.
The only reason to applaud, as happened at the Venice Film Festival, it seemed to me, was to drown out the still, small voice of one’s conscience asking, “Might I have done as they did? Might my children?”
NAZA is a gut punch not because it tells us anything we did not already know or suspect about Israel and Gaza.
The enclave’s Palestinian journalists showed us daily the evidence of the genocide, before each was picked off by Israel’s AI machinery – in the largest slaughter of media personnel ever recorded.
No, the film tells us something far more shaming. It tells us who we are. It tells us exactly what the pillars of our western “civilisation” stand on.
Today’s western privileges were built on a long history of naked, racist colonialism – of greed, of pillage, of slavery, of genocide – that we have never truly renounced or forsaken.
Israel continues that tradition for us, both in sharpening colonialism’s technical efficiency with endless, murderous experimentation on a captive Palestinian population and in obscuring our own complicity in this barbarity.
That is the reason why it was so effortless for our leaders to collude in Israel’s genocide: to supply the bombs, to pass on the intelligence, to provide the diplomatic cover, to excuse the “excesses”, to crush the protests.
NAZA silences us not because of the monstrosity of what Israel did but because it serves as irrefutable proof of our own monstrosity. Our societies watched it all and did nothing. We are all guilty.
This is an extract from my latest article NAZA is not just about Israel and Gaza. It’s about the evil lurking in us all. Find a link to the rest in the reply post below ⬇️
