Given how prevalent this nonsense metric is, finding the right denominator would be a good starting point.
Rough calcs:
40% below earning age, 10% retired, 60% LFPR.
142 * 0.5 * 0.6 = 42 Cr potential earners
- 9 Cr farmers (registered under PM-Kisan) = 33
@ 8 Cr ITRs; we have 25% coverage.
India's Population – 142 Cr
Tax Filers – 7.4 Cr
Tax Payers – 2.2 Cr
Majority Contributors – 45 L Tax payers contribute to 80% of tax collected
1.5% of Indians (22m) pay India’s income tax in entirety - And a fifth of those taxpayers pay four-fifths of income tax
Only 1.5% Indians are taxpayers, vs China ~10% | USA ~43%
What are some innovative ways that you can think of to get more folks into the Tax Filing and Tax paying bracket?

@bbmpcommr @BBMPCOMM @BBMPAdmn This is the state of the Bellandur - Doddakannelli road from past 6+ months! We have thousands of people using this road every day, including school buses. It's a huge accident waiting to happen! Can someone please act on it before it's too late?

Have a look at the road next to RMZ Ecoworld in supposedly the epicenter of IT industry . With outer ring road dug up for eternity, this is the lifeline for all the kids going to schools in the vicinity . Its waiting for a major accident to happen.

India's deal was €7.87 billion for 36 Rafale jets, and signed in 2016. Keeping inflation etc aside for a moment, the two numbers are hard to reconcile.
