What is happening in South Odisha’s bauxite belt?
Within little more than a month, Lada Sikaka, Dr Randall Sequeira and Laxman Naik, all associated in different ways with movements opposing bauxite mining were arrested.
Sept 10: Lada Sikaka connected to Niyamgiri protest arrested
↓
Sept 27: Anil Agarwal meets Odisha CM and subsequently spoke about Niyamgiri which was a closed case after the 2013 SC judgment .
↓
Oct 16: Dr Randall Sequeira and Laxman Naik arrested in connection with the April Kantamal incidents.
😂 Then comes our local Sherlock Prasad who apparently solved the mystery of Randall Sequeira’s arrest with a Google map of churches around Lanjigarh, Kasipur and Tikiri.
One tiny problem: where are the temples?
Ok, let me share full picture to burst the myth around Kalahandi 👇

Wonderful time last night celebrating Gajalakshmi Puja and Kumar Purnima.
Puja at home, lot of Pitha and Kheeri, blessings from parents and elders, pandal hopping, and some peaceful, spiritual time at the temple.
There’s something special about Ganjam between Dussehra and Kumar Purnima. It’s that time of year when families come together, old traditions come alive, and home feels extra warm and vibrant.
Grateful for it all. 🙏

Hello Dr. Manoj PGI,
Are you a doctor in real life or a twitter profile only? If real , Do you treat humans or animals? Do you ever differentiate between patients based on their color, ideology, caste, or religion?
What do you think about doctors like Dr. Randall who choose to work in remote areas and serve people there?
Does being a doctor create a stronger desire to serve society, especially the poor and disadvantaged, or is that an old-fashioned way of looking at the profession?
1. Paddy already in the grain-filling stage? Wow, that’s very fast, and probably not accurate. What I see on the ground is pre-heading to early flowering. Pic attached.
2. Precisely my point. Advisories issued? Good. Now the necessary support must reach farmers at the block level.
3. Am not sure why he need to give Hindi briefing but that had no mention of farmers. Hence my criticism.
And btw, it’s Odia, not Odiya.
Instead of reducing assistance to tribal communities to mere accusations of religious conversion, people would do well to understand the circumstances these communities face and prioritize their development, health, education, dignity, and welfare over religious politics.
Well said. 👍 @AnanyaDash11
To people commenting the doctor was there to CONVERT, rice bag and what not...how can tribals CONVERT? Do you know TRIBALS DONT HAVE A RELIGION!?? Mind you, they AREN'T Hindus!! They worship the hills, mountains, rivers and nature. Nature is their God. Please educate yourself about Kondhs and the Dongria Kondh Movement first!
Yes many Tribals in Odisha are Christians today. But just think, why would they BECOME Christians? What must be the circumstances that made them Christians? - The Odisha govt and Indian govt didn't care for them (Rayagada, Kalahandi were the poorest region in the entire country! As an Odia I remember the embarrassment the so called national media would put me through always talking about poverty. Odisha meant poverty for them and they always showed tribals) Malnourished, pot bellied children with ribs visible , high childhood mortality was the norm in those regions.. forget living a life even basic facilities weren't there- So just imagine their helplessness! Missionaries saw this lack and provided them food, water, housing, education in the name of Jesus. And why wouldn't they accept the God whose name gave them all this - it gave them health, dignity, education, a life. The missionaries did what the govt couldn't and still is unable to! Why wouldn't they worship that God?
Before calling Dr Sequeira a Converter please look at the work of Dr Sequeira since 2017 - he has been conducting so many health camps for tribal people outside of his work hours and has helped them so much. Laxman Naik, the kondh activist has been put behind bars as well. The plan was to keep tribals of Odisha illiterate and poor so that they could be exploited.
Ever been to a mining district? I have. Two days in the dust would make you sick!
Very easy to comment rice bag without knowing what the kondhs face today. Odisha is a state that celebrated movies like Daman! And when the doc helping tribals is a Christian, look how the tables turn!
When Religion and not development and welfare drive your decisions, you are already doomed as a nation!

A Hindi briefing by the Odisha CM on a cyclone threatening Odisha. Uttar Pradesh somehow finds a mention, but Odisha’s farmers don’t. That pretty much says it all.
Just for context, this is a critical flowering stage for paddies and in just two weeks grain filling and ripening will occur.
In the wake of #CycloneArnab, farmers are bound to be deeply concerned about their crops and livelihoods. They cannot be left to fend for themselves at this critical hour. The Government must reach every block and ensure timely guidance and all necessary support.
Cyclone preparedness cannot be complete if the farmer is missing from the conversation.

#WATCH | Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi says, "We have just concluded a review meeting regarding the impact of cyclone Arnab and the measures to tackle it. According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is expected to make landfall on the afternoon of 28 October somewhere between northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha. We have received reports indicating that this will lead to heavy rainfall across various districts in these states... We have assigned specific responsibilities to each department, ensuring they are fully prepared in advance. The state government is completely ready to handle this situation. As always, our primary objective remains the same: Zero casualties."
I saw this clip on FB and couldn’t resist sharing it with you all. 😄
The scene at Info Valley ahead of PM Modi’s visit for RBI Data Center inauguration :
“700 Days of Pending Work, Completed in Just 7 Days.”
Our Govt in nutshell : No hesitation, no embarrassment. Full behiya mode on! 😂
Using this guy’s logic, I guess these prominent BJP ministers and Netas who studied in Christian-run or missionary institutions are also potentially helping expand the so-called ‘rice bag’ base:
> Ashwini Vaishnaw: St. Anthony’s Convent School, Jodhpur, Rajasthan
> J. P. Nadda: St. Xavier’s School, Patna, Bihar
> Piyush Goyal: Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai, Maharashtra
> S. Jaishankar: St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, Delhi
> Smriti Irani: Holy Child Auxilium School, Delhi
Maybe the problem isn’t the school name. It’s the silly IT celliya logic.😂😂
NISER • IIT • AIIMS nearby • Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre • and now RBI Data Centre
Who would have thought Jatni would come this long way !! 👏👏👏
The road to RBI Data Centre is all decked up for PM Modi’s visit and inauguration in evening tomorrow i.e. 25th October .
Found a nice little tiffin spot near Aska Railway Station adjacent to Sugar Factory. Food cooked on traditional chulha just hits differently! 😋🔥
Definitely worth a try if you’re on this route.
Thanks to the Hon’ble MP of Aska Anita Subhadarshini for the railway station. 🙏

As Odias, we need to be serious about Kotia and channel our collective voice in the right direction.
Naveen Babu will do what he can from his position, but the onus is on the current CM to rise above politics and safeguard Odisha’s interests.
I would love to see Odias across the globe unite in a humble but firm appeal to @CMO_Odisha on Kotia with some online trending like below 👇
#StandWithKotia #OdishaForKotia #UnitedForKotia
A humble appeal to Shri Naveen Patnaik, from an ordinary Odia.
Naveen Babu,
For the last few days, your supporters have been celebrating the impact of your letters, from the demand for Shri Dharmendra Pradhan’s removal as Union Education Minister during the NEET controversy to the recent release of the two cockroaches.
As an ordinary Odia, I have a simple question.
Why not write one more letter, this time to your friend Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, asking him to stop conducting elections in Kotia?
If your letters can make a difference elsewhere, surely the issue of Odisha’s territorial integrity deserves the same effort.
But Naveen Babu, I have another request.
Your party governed Odisha for 24 years. Today, when Kotia has become such a serious concern for our state, people would like to see you and your party’s warriors stand with the people there. Not just through letters and statements, but by coming to Kotia and organising a dharna.
And if the people of Kotia were truly happy with those 24 years of BJD governance, would they not come forward and join such a protest? Would that not be an opportunity for them to show their support through their own actions, rather than have others speak on their behalf?
After all, any election depends on people coming out to vote. If the people of Kotia decide not to participate, that too would send a message. Why not let the people make their own decision and give their own reply to the Andhra Government?
Why should the rest of Odisha be left watching political statements and counterstatements when the people of Kotia themselves should be at the centre of this issue?
I am asking this not to question one party or support another. This is about Odisha. We cannot keep looking at every issue through the lens of political affiliations and allow our real concerns to get lost in the process.
As an ordinary Odia, I would genuinely like to see our leaders stand together whenever the land, identity and self respect of Odisha are at stake.
Naveen Babu, you have written the letter. Now, will you go to Kotia and stand with its people?
କୋଟିଆ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର। ଏହା ଆମ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଆତ୍ମସମ୍ମାନର ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ।
