The latest from @davidphardy : "The District is sending a clear message. Poor Black and Brown kids don’t deserve school choice. Instead, the District believes they must stay put in their neighborhood schools — no matter how bad they are."

Thank God these children found a viable educational option. @YouthBuildPHL is doing what their previous schools couldn’t do. There are many young people with many stories. We need many options to address their many needs.

Few have fought more ferociously for the educational rights of the underserved than my friend, Sarah Carpenter. Tomorrow night, in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, she will join the ranks of Dr. Howard Fuller and Geoffrey Canada when she receives Legacy Award from the Freedom Coalition for Charter Schools. I’m sorry that I won’t be there, but I want @LadyTenn to know how proud I am of her and the work she does. 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
Government funding of private educational options in low income communities is the only way to solve the urban education crisis.

Florida charter school enrollment just surpassed 400,000 students, according to fresh state data.
That's up 62% from a decade ago.
Parents like options.

My husband and I went to a dog adoption event with our older son and his girlfriend, who were volunteering there. We were NOT going to adopt another dog. Absolutely, positively NOT.
Meet our new 3-month-old puppy (a rescue from PR). She adopted us, lol. Any ideas for a name? 🐶

Consider the following. Only 2% of all surgeons are Black man. That’s a crazy low number, right? But, you could argue that it takes lots of degrees and skills to be a surgeon. Then I tell you that only 1.4% of all teachers are Black men…. #themoreyouknow
