I got an apology note from the team. We accidentally published some benchmark results but at least we are number #1 :) More seriously open benchmarks helps us make sure we deliver great value so thanks to @computesdk

Approvals are now retained for Stacked PRs after stack rebases ✅
Whether you use the "Rebase stack" button or partially merge a stack, as long as the diff doesn't change, PR approvals will be kept even if you have "dismiss stale approvals" turned on

Really proud of the work that the team has been doing. We’re rearchitecting our core Git infra to stay ahead of growth and support the future of software development.

Want to discuss code review with @depoll, Senior Director of Engineering at GitHub, where he leads the team behind pull requests and Copilot code review?
Join us for our next The Hangar session: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…
We'll discuss:
- Why code review was never really about correctness, and what its real jobs are when agents write more of the code
- How upfront planning—PRDs, design docs, architecture reviews—is collapsing into the PR itself
- Where reviewers should direct their attention when reading every line no longer scales
- Turning review decisions into rules and context that become institutional memory for both people and agents
- Preparing for a world with 20x more PRs, many of which will never be merged

I'm back to @GitHubCopilot after a couple of months on @spacexai Grok Build CLI and @cursor_ai CLI agent. Gotta say the @github team excels at making anything they do a colorful, tasteful joy to use. Tons of little things that add up. 👏
A lot of AI product design starts with "what can the AI do here?" I've come around to thinking that shouldn't be the first question, and I wrote up why: davidpoll.com/2026/09/the-wr…
On the getting-value side, sometimes being in the loop is the point. Reviewing a teammate's change teaches you where the system is heading, and a better model doesn't change that.
A much-needed refresh of the repo pull requests page landed in public preview yesterday. Very much in line with the rework we did on github.com/pulls earlier this year: queries that can do AND/OR and nesting, content assist while you type, a filter sidebar, a compact mode, and check status and unread updates inline. We've all got a deluge of PRs these days, so we're working to make them easier to manage.

Sometimes it's easier to show than tell. We're sure this update will help with that. 👀
GitHub CLI now has a repeatable --attach flag that uploads a local image or video. Reference it inline in an issue, pull request, or comment body.
Available now to all users on GitHub across all plans. 🎉

Pouring one out for the bespoke agent skills currently being archived. You were well crafted and served did your duty.🫡
Now you can attach images to GitHub issues and pull requests with `gh`.

I spend an embarrassing amount of PR time scrolling through the whole timeline to work out what's actually being asked of me. So here's a peek at something we've been trying on our own PRs. Comments get a lot more room, what needs doing next is up top, and the timeline is a summary off to the side. It's much faster, too. What would you want out of this page?

Are we heading toward a world where there are 20 times as many PRs that don't get merged?
That's what @depoll has been discussing with folks at @github
"Maybe that's part of how people build software going forward: We tried it, these ones we accepted, and those ones we rejected. That doesn't mean we weren't being productive in the process."
David leads the Code&Review organization at GitHub so most of our podcast conversation was, obviously, about code reviews.

code hosting isn't the reason GitHub is so hard to replace, it's everything else.
have not yet seen a replacement that handles the social side of things too

On August 17, GitHub experienced a significant outage that disrupted developers and organizations around the world. If you were trying to ship software that day, we let you down.
I posted in March and April about the steps we’re taking to make GitHub more reliable. The work is still underway. Here is an update:
