Important: Here’s something that a LOT of people don’t know about what’s actually going on with Delhi Police. CJP’s Saurav Das & Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to 2 more days of judicial custody in Tihar Jail. By a judicial court? NO. They have been kept in Tihar Jail for the last 6 days on the order of a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM). Who is an SEM? He is an ACP-rank (junior) police officer of Delhi Police appointed by the state govt. Therefore, Delhi Police arrested Saurav & Ashutosh & now a Delhi Police ACP (acting as SEM) is keeping them in jail. There’s no FIR against them. There’s also no judicial order. Delhi Police are the accusers & well as the judge when it comes to keeping them in jail. That’s how messed up it is.

Where do people go when they want those in power to listen? From Washington to London, Paris to Seoul, public squares have long been the stage for protests that shaped history. With Delhi’s Jantar Mantar removed from the list of authorised protest sites, the debate over the right to dissent takes centre stage. @Sonal_MK takes us through prominent public squares around the world that became landmarks of resistance. #JantarMantar #RightToProtest #FreedomOfExpression #GlobalProtests #DelhiPolice #5Live

We should stop treating politicians like cricket teams. You don't have to support everything because you voted for someone. You can vote BJP and question Modi Govt. You can vote Congress and question Rahul Gandhi. Politicians are supposed to work for public, public isn't supposed to work as unpaid IT cell for politicians.

At some point Govt needs to answer a very basic question. If citizens have to privately arrange healthcare, education, transport, security, clean water, clean air, retirement and backup for basic infrastructure... then what exactly is the middle class receiving for decades of taxes? Because "earn more money so you can protect yourself from our failures" cannot be the economic model of a serious country.

Absolutely true this is , everyday is a fight from clean water to power to registering your land to roads where you can drive without getting killed to dealing with the junior most govt officials without compromising one"s dignity and self respect ..
The biggest reason why so many educated Indians want to settle abroad isn't just higher salaries. It's the ability to live a respectable life without constantly fighting with the system, worrying about basic civic facilities, dealing with corruption or feeling punished for being an honest taxpayer. People don't leave their country without a reason.

Do you know why America is developed and India is not? America welcomes immigrants with open arms. India abhors not just immigrants but its own citizens, and instead worships those who have abandoned their motherland. Zohran Mamdani became a US citizen just 8 years ago. He is now Mayor of New York City. Kshama Sawant got elected to the Seattle City Council just 4 years after becoming a US citizen. Sriram Krishnan became an advisor in the Trump government just 7 years after he became a US citizen. And this is the Trump who is the face of xenophobia in the US today. Another racist JD Vance is married to a Telugu goddess Usha Chilukuri. Meanwhile, we in India question the citizenship of not just Jean Dreze and Rahul Gandhi but also the citizenship of fellow Indians whose families have lived here for several generations. Meanwhile we worship those people who have spent years of effort, and thousands of dollars of money to abandon their Indian citizenships. We beg them for their money and venerate them for their OCI status. Food for thought.

It’s not running away — it’s leaping ahead! The comrade in that striking image — the one who broke free from the Delhi Police and charged forward with the SFI flag — is a Malayali from Palakkad. She is Pavitra, a native of Mankara and an Anthropology student at Delhi University. It is fighting youth like Pavitra — who never bow to any threat and never falter under any repression — who are agitating on the streets of Delhi to reclaim democracy. #gyaneshkumarresign #gyanuitsover #savedemocracy

#JeanDreze brilliant, humble, more Indian than most of us . Have met him briefly twice, what a body of work & what a man..
Most Indians don't know this, but the Dreze family are literally academic royalty in Belgium. Jean's brother the late Xavier Dreze was a highly regarded Marketing professor at UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He was one of the very very few who could do both modeling and consumer behavior research. He died very young at age 48. His obituary says he was a true polymath with multiple academic and sporting talents. Jean's father the late Jacques Dreze was an economist at the Université Catholique de Louvain. He was a highly regarded economist and the first president of the European Economic Association. He has collaborated with nobel laureates Robert Aumann and Franco Modigliani and his publication record is comparable with the best in the field. Jean Dreze could have had a very cushy life with his family legacy, white skin and European passport. Even in India, he could have been a social butterfly flitting in and out of five star hotels and running think tanks funded hy veated interests. Instead, he took Indian citizenship, learnt Hindi and roughs it out in rural Jharkhand. He designed many schemes and his footprint is all over Indian economic policy. You may like him or hate him. But Jean Dreze is more Indian than anyone who was born Indian, including you and me. He chose to be Indian. And he has dedicated his life to India. Think of this the next time some illiterate journalist asks "Who is Jean Dreze?"
