In 2020, Tommy Tuberville promised to donate “every dime” of his $174,000 Senate salary to Alabama veterans and their families. A June investigation found no evidence he followed through, a pledge now worth roughly $1 million.
Tuesday night, after a reporter asked about it, Tuberville told staff to remove him. Then he called the media “socialists” and “communists.”
The MAGA senator had a reporter thrown out of a campaign dinner after being confronted with an embarrassing question.

When a member of Congress threatens a student journalist for doing their job, the student isn't the one who needs a lesson in the law.
We applaud University of Maryland student journalist Cat Murphy for knowing the law and standing her ground on behalf of the readers she serves. When Rep. Andy Harris claimed she couldn't record his news conference — and threatened prosecution if she continued — she knew that his threats were empty under Maryland's state recording laws. Check out her conversation below with CNN's @jaketapper about how, and why, she stood her ground.
Student journalists are journalists. They have the same right to cover a public official as anyone in the press pool. They deserve the same respect when they do.
At SPLC, we stand with all the student journalists who face threats, intimidation or retaliation. If you have questions about your state's recording laws, or you've faced a threat like this, contact our Legal Hotline for free, confidential help: splc.org/legalhelp
'It's been a lot. But I was focused on doing my job and asking my questions that I wanted answers to.' Student journalist Cat Murphy joins @jaketapper to respond after GOP Rep. Andy Harris threatened to have her prosecuted for recording his answers during a news conference.

Dear @ECNLgirls, PLEASE tell me the G2010/11 team labels aren't here to stay.
The switch BACK to school-year age groups has already wreaked havoc on college recruiting databases. Thousands of team rosters to update, players changing teams, and years of recruiting information to reconcile.
Now we're supposed to prepare for showcases with teams identified by BOTH birth year and age group?
How in the world are college coaches supposed to match players to teams, build scouting schedules, and know who we're actually watching?
Can we PLEASE just call a U16 team a U16 team? 🤯

A Jerry Jones story I haven’t heard before: he said on @1053thefan they were leaving a win over Green Bay over two decades ago when a woman pulled down her pants and stuck her behind to the window of Jones’ car with his grandkids inside, too. He said it was so cold, her behind stuck to the window.
“When she pulled away it was just a big print.
“We can still see it today.”

It's official: Harvard is the Arizona State University of the East. That's all, folks.
Vice President JD Vance on J-1 Visa fraud in Universities:
"This is where some of America’s most elite universities bring in foreigners again, to undercut the wages of American residents. Now there are nine universities in particular that we believe merit an investigation. Those universities are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, the University of Pittsburgh, UC Davis, Caltech, Arizona State, and MIT."

Kimberly Guilfoyle was preparing for her congressional hearing to become U.S. ambassador to Greece when she reached out to a Trump donor with an urgent request: She needed $100,000 that she said she owed American Express—in a way that wouldn’t leave a paper trail.
“It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote on Signal, according to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “Please.”
