It’s a go! My double lung transplant is starting tonight. Follow my friend @DaWezl for updates my mom will share with her.
This is me! After 3 years on oxygen, 9 nebulizer treatments a day, IV antibiotics for weeks at a time, dozens of pills, airway clearance, pulmonary rehab, and now only 20% lung function, I finally have good news: ⬇️ #cysticfibrosis #CLT #NC

Just had the saddest conversation with my lung transplant doctor. He doesn’t think there’s any way to get back my lung function. I’m now down to 18%. (I was 85% in April!) He thinks it’s CLAD: Chronic rejection. He’s going to try a few things to stabilize what I have left.

My 8th photopheresis treatment to try to delay death. My body is rejecting my transplanted lungs. My lung function fell to 16%. In April it was still 85%. By June it dropped to 39%. 3 hospitalizations later, it dropped to 18%. Doctors say there’s little chance it will improve.

I’m really struggling to breathe today. No appetite. My #lungtransplant coordinator talked to me about end of life stuff. It sounds like my suffering will increase until they finally sedate me to get through the final days. How close am I to that? They can’t predict.

48% of SNAP recipients work full time 39% of SNAP recipients are children. Stop saying you’re a Christian if you want it taken away.

When people talk about SNAP benefits the conservatives all claim their tax dollars aren’t supposed to cover this and churches will But now when someone asks churches to cover it, suddenly the goalposts shift and you have to be a church member with a history of tithing 🙄

UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.

An important vote in this series: @SenatorBaldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

It's worth noting that one reason Carnegie built so many libraries is because he had trouble finding highly skilled, educated workers and sought improve the knowledge of the working class, while today's moguls actively seek to dismantle education and destroy literacy.

I think it is time for SCOTUS to remind Trump that they are not his get out of jail card for every fucking thing that he is guilty of. Trump was not immune from prosecution for these civil charges.

This is how you actually kill the Affordable Care Act. For 15 years the Republicans haven’t been able to come up with an alternative so they’re just going to let it choke to death and then claim it was inevitable. The pain and suffering is the point.

$10,000 bonuses for 20,000 workers but we don’t have money for SNAP 🤷🏻‍♀️
Trump is now threatening to dock the backpay of air traffic controllers who don't return to work during the shutdown and offers $10k bonuses to those who do. Since Friday 40 airports have reduced flight traffic at the direction of the FAA.

🔔Would your church provide 1 can of formula for a hungry baby in desperate need? Over 20 churches said NO. 1 mosque said YES. That mosque is right here in Charlotte, NC! The Islamic Center of Charlotte (Link on next post)
A woman on TikTok called churches asking for help feeding her 9-month-old baby. • Mosques: 100% offered help • Buddhist Temples: 100% offered help. • Christian Churches: 27% offered help. Only 9 of 33 Christian churches said yes—and all 9 were predominantly Black churches. Love thy neighbor? Depends on the pew.

Link to the Islamic Center of Charlotte, the mosque that not only said “we will help you” but which formula do you need? And for those churches saying they only help “members”, your community doesn’t end at the church door. Jesus would NOT approve! iccharlotte.org/

Gay marriage: protected… for now. But keep this in mind at midterms.
BREAKING: Supreme Court rejects case that could have overturned gay marriage.

BERNIE: “This senate is about to make a horrific situation even worse… health insurance premiums will double/triple/quadruple… some will pay 50% of their income… 15 million will lose insurance… 50,000 will die unnecessarily…” #MedicareForAllNOW

Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

Why the f would we believe R's would vote in the future for something they won't do NOW? When the pressure is OFF, you think they will suddenly do the right thing?

Bernie’s right ⬇️
Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

“fresh paint on rotten wood.” —Republican Senator on ACA subsidies. Hope he remembers that in the midterms as he watches a blue wave!
Asked what he expects to happen when lawmakers vote on health care in December, Kennedy says: “I don't think there's any appetite among Republicans to just extend the status quo.” “I think most of them believe that extending the status quo is putting fresh paint on rotten wood.”

Murkowski calls the administration’s instructing of states to undo full SNAP benefits “shockingly wrong.” “It’s one thing if the federal government is going to continue its level of appeal … to say this can’t be done.” “But when you are telling the states — that have said this is a significant enough issue in our state that we're going to find resources to backfill, or frontload, whatever term you want, to help our people — those states should not be penalized for it for doing that. That to me is just shockingly wrong.”
