I truly hate founders dinners -- you're stuck next to some wet-behind-the-ears founder who's trying to figure out how useful you are, some law firm or neobank sponsor who is just trying to sell you on their services, or a low level VC associate stabbing in the dark for deal flow. And they aren't interested in you unless you have capital to deploy, just went through YC or just raised a round. Short term transactional users all around. But my founder relationships have paid dividends only when I've led with friendship and connection first, not short term networking. I was reminded of this when my friend @CoyneLloyd , who I've known for 10+ years, made an unsolicited intro to a potential collaborator last week after he remembered a business idea I told him 3 years ago. Only when you form a genuine connection with someone do they think of you or answer your DM months, sometimes years later, when the opportunity arises. Because chances are no matter how well curated the room is the people in it won't be able to help you in that exact moment. Maxwell is not a founders community, it's a community of friends that has a lot of founders and venture capitalists in it, but I believe the best way to advance your career is through building a community of true allies, not short term transactional relationships, and Maxwell is built for that type of long term relationship building. So we're ramping up a series of genuine founder dinners for our entrepreneurial members, and we'd love to meet more of you -- @edwardchiu and myself will be curating these dinners and they'll be members only (link to apply for membership in comments). Our guarantees: - There will be no neobank or law firm sponsors in the room. - There will be no short term transactional types, everyone will be an interesting person first and foremost, regardless of stage or pedigree. - The priority will be long term community and relationship building, exactly what we do at Maxwell. If you want to be part of a founders community that will be there with you over the long term, throw in an application for membership (again, link in comments) as we ramp things up this fall.

Odyssey CEO @olivercameron believes it's becoming a national crisis not to deploy driverless cars. "I have two kids, and the leading cause of childhood death is still car crashes. The idea that we have this technology where I can literally walk outside and be driven autonomously back to my house 40 miles away exists."

Everyone has a health story. The late-night searches. The trial and error. The fear you might never get better. The hardest part isn’t the symptoms. It’s feeling like you’re in it alone. Introducing Qi Health👇

The Associated Press chose not to highlight the suffering of hostages like Evyatar David—who is deliberately being starved and forced to dig his own grave—but instead to focus on the “struggles” of Hezbollah, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization that has fired over 10,000 rockets at Israel since 10/7. The media narrative suggests that Hezbollah, which has murdered hundreds of Americans, deserves our empathy. Here’s a radical thought: empathy should be reserved for the victims of terror rather than the terrorists themselves.

Secretary Rubio speaking today in Canada, on negotiations with Hamas for the release of hostages: “We want all the hostages released. We believe they should all be released. These trades being made, they’re ridiculous trades. Come on. Four hundred people for three? These are nuts. I mean, we’re sitting around as the world is sort of accepting that it’s normal and okay for you to go into a place, kidnap babies, kidnap teenagers, kidnap people that have nothing to do with any wars, that are not soldiers, that are not anything, and taking them and putting them in tunnels for almost a year and a half. And we’re acting like this is a normal exchange, this is a normal thing that happens? This is an outrage. So, they should all be released.”

Sabotaging Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself *with its own weapons* by switching off signals intelligence is so incredibly depraved it beggars belief. If political partisanship means you can’t see that—there is something wrong with you.

Israel killed children accidentally over the course of a war it did not start. They have never gone into Gaza, taken two children, held them in a tunnel for a month and then strangled them and held onto their bodies for a year before parading them. There is no moral equivalence.

1/ First-year CS students write the simplest logic programs: “rule-based” — if A, do B. If D, E, and F are True, do G. As they become more skilled, they embrace complex logical models to handle more real-world problems. A🧵
