I deeply respect Ananthan's principled stand in this matter.
Prof Suryanarayana Doolla should not be subject to this.
I strongly oppose the charges against Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla of IIT Bombay under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
My background: I belong to the Devendra Kula Vellalar (DKV) community, classified as SC. I grew up in deep rural poverty and witnessed the suffering of my people first-hand. I was educated thanks to broad-minded people from many communities.
I studied Electronics at NIT Tiruchirappalli, worked at C-DOT Bengaluru, and then at Intel in India and the US, where I rose to Engineering Director and Senior Silicon Architect, responsible for high-speed interconnects vital to modern CPUs and GPUs. I hold multiple patents in this field.
I share this to make clear that I know what it means to come from an SC community and rise through hard work and commitment.
Our DKV community has taken a principled, voluntary stand not to file SC/ST cases against anyone. We have seen how cases under this Act are weaponised, and how that deepens enmity on the ground.
On that basis, I oppose the misuse of this Act in this case. The case against Prof. Doolla must be withdrawn. This matters for the future of SC/ST students and for our nation.
Jai Hind 🙏

Who wouldn’t love a good story? Or perhaps saying good stories?
I enjoy both—especially when it involves walking around cities. Made a lil video on why I enjoy walking & how cities talk to me. 🧚🏼♂️✨
And hey, I’ve got a ‘gram page if you’d love to follow along :) great stories promised! 👇🏼

Halved the response time without upgrading hardware
This week, I shipped a videoLLM on AWS that was stable under heavy load but felt sluggish.
My first instinct was to use a beefier GPU
But I decided to slow down.
Built a Benchmarking harness on Modal that sweeps server+client configs across different machines, studied the latency/throughput curve and picked the point with best throughput inside our latency budget.
Same model, same hardware:
A deployment that was at least 2x faster end-to-end than OpenAI and Gemini.
Before you pay for a bigger instance,
Take the time to benchmark your server config. The capacity is probably already there.

Why can a single mother not be able to renew her daughter’s passport without a father’s consent who is not providing for her?

Hugh Ferriss is one of the most important architects in history, even though he never designed a single building.
He shaped the skyline of New York, helped to create Art Deco architecture, and even inspired Gotham City.
How? With his drawings of imaginary skyscrapers...

Pale Blue Dot is a photo of Earth that was taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990 from a distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) as it was leaving our solar system. This is what Carl Sagan said about the photo:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
