The guy who compared a Trump rally to Jonestown on live Fox News was invited by the Trump campaign. They called his work phone on Monday and asked him to come. His name is Tom Hoyle. He's 57 and runs a small custom printing shop in Charlotte called MadPark Designs with his business partner. He's hated Trump since 1989, back when he was a sophomore in college. And he really, really doesn't like getting sales calls on the shop line, from anybody. So when the rally people called, he said yes. He even signed up with his real name and contact info, because he wanted it on the record that they invited him. Then he had to get through the door. A private security guy asked him straight up if he was a Trump supporter. Tom told him he supports the Constitution, then started talking about his shirt, which was for an old death metal band called Death. He kept going about the history of Florida death metal until the guard gave up and let him in. His plan going in was honestly pretty juvenile. He and a buddy he grew up with figured he'd wait a few minutes into the speech and yell something filthy. Then a Fox News reporter, Lucas Tomlinson, found him standing off by himself and asked if he could interview him live. Tom thinks a white guy with a big beard and a ball cap was pretty much exactly what they were looking for. He told himself he wasn't going to cuss on national TV, so he made it up on the spot. He says the first line and then just waits. The reporter goes "Wait, the Jonestown Massacre?" and that's when he finishes it. He told The Handbasket he picked that up from Billy Crystal, who said on Letterman back in the '80s that you always let the other guy set up your punchline. Tomlinson set it up for him perfectly. A few minutes later some men who said they were Secret Service pulled him aside. He asked if this was about the concession stand, because it closed early and he was starving. They didn't love that and walked him out. On his way out he passed the guard from the front door and told him, hey man, you didn't vet me too well. Think about how many people had a shot at stopping this. The campaign's call list found him. The signup form had his name. A guard questioned him to his face. A Fox crew put him on live TV. Every one of them took one look at the beard and the hat and filled in the rest. That's how almost all of this screening works. Asking somebody what they actually believe takes time, and looking at them takes a second, so everybody just looks. The one check that actually caught him came after he'd already said it on national TV.
Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

This is possibly the reason the White House stopped posting the transcripts of Trump's remarks. If you read them, you realize very quickly that he is out of his mind.
Here’s another clip of a woman reading Trump’s words verbatim from a recent rally in Mississippi that puts a giant magnifying glass over how gone he is cognitively and unfit he is for office.

The monumental "Catrina" skeleton in Mexico City's Zócalo has just broken a new official Guinness World Record as the world's tallest Calavera Catrina. Unveiled as the central masterpiece of the capital's Monumental Day of the Dead Offering (Ofrenda Monumental), this staggering sculpture stands at an incredible 33.41 meters (nearly 110 feet) tall. It acts as a massive public altar celebrating the deeply rooted traditions of Día de Muertos while paying special tribute to José Guadalupe Posada, the iconic Mexican artist who originally created the famous skeletal figure at the turn of the 20th century.

🇵🇱 For everyone asking what's happening in Poland tonight, here are the key points: 1. The Constitutional Tribunal's leadership has been challenged. Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska issued orders suspending Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and Vice-President Bartłomiej Sochański from their duties for one month. She claims authority to take over the Tribunal's leadership as its most senior judge. 2. Why did she do this? Korwin-Piotrowska accuses the existing leadership of obstructing the work of judges elected by the current parliamentary majority, violating judicial procedures and preventing the proper functioning of the Tribunal. She also raised concerns about the court's 2027 budget. 3. The Tribunal rejects the orders. Its existing leadership says the official website was illegally taken over and insists that Święczkowski remains president. The legality of Korwin-Piotrowska's decisions is disputed. 4. Police entered the building. Following the announcement, demonstrators gathered outside the Tribunal. Tensions escalated, with some people reportedly climbing over the fence and throwing objects at police officers. Police intervened and several people were detained. 5. Why is this Tribunal so important? The Constitutional Tribunal determines whether laws and other legal acts comply with Poland's Constitution. Its decisions can affect legislation, government actions and the country's entire legal system. Control over its leadership therefore has major constitutional and political significance. 6. This conflict has been building for months. Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government and President Karol Nawrocki have been locked in a dispute over the Tribunal's composition. Nawrocki refused to swear in three judges elected by parliament, while the Tribunal's existing leadership refused to allow judges appointed by the current parliamentary majority to take their seats. Tusk's government does not recognise the Tribunal's legitimacy and has refused to publish some of its rulings, citing controversial judicial appointments made under the previous PiS government. 7. Political reactions are escalating. PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński called on President Nawrocki to intervene, accusing Tusk's government of turning Poland into a police state. Nawrocki cancelled his trip to Senegal and announced that he is returning to Poland. Tusk, meanwhile, says restoring the rule of law is a difficult but necessary process. The situation is still developing. Both sides dispute the legality of the actions taken, and the legal authority behind the latest orders remains unresolved. Poland is now facing one of its most serious institutional confrontations in recent years. What happens next will depend on whether the two sides can resolve this dispute through legal and constitutional channels or whether the standoff escalates further. For now, Warsaw remains at the centre of a crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for the country's institutions and political future.

The ranking members of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees have written a letter to President Trump asking whether he has been soliciting advice from Grok in order to help carry out his official duties as President of the United States. They also demanded that he preserve any prompts sent to Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, as well as outputs in response to those prompts, that were 'submitted to AI chatbots in carrying out your constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties.' The letter was provided by Politico.

TRUE STORY: When the original Star Wars trilogy first aired on Chilean TV, rather than breaking up the action with commercials, beer ads were edited directly into scenes. Not sure if these are better than ad breaks, but they're definitely funnier. Lucasfilm weren't amused though.

So what's Musk's game here?
BREAKING: SpaceX has reportedly told companies developing lunar landers for NASA that it will no longer provide launch services for their missions, according to new reporting by Ars Technica. The decision could complicate NASA's plans to establish a sustained presence on the Moon, as smaller lunar lander developers may need to turn to alternative rockets such as Blue Origin's New Glenn. The disclosure comes amid a broader shift in SpaceX's launch business: SpaceX $SPCX has told NASA it intends to retire Crew Dragon by 2030, reportedly stopped offering new commercial Falcon 9 launches beyond 2028, and declined to bid on three additional U.S. Space Force launch contracts. SpaceX continues to fulfill its existing government commitments, but the developments raise questions about NASA's growing dependence on a company increasingly focused on Starship, Starlink and AI infrastructure.

Very cool use of potential energy to store renewable energy.

Look at this graph. It’s a disaster. A new working paper tracked 26,811 students in China. Homework scores rose by 18%. Meanwhile, closed-book exam scores fell by 20%. This divergence between home performance and class performance seems driven by AI usage: Among students who never used AI, higher homework scores are associated with higher exam scores. Among AI users, the relationship switches completely: exceptionally high homework scores are associated with substantially worse exam performance. * Paper in the first reply

BREAKING: Sen. Chris Murphy was briefed on highly classified military planning on Iran to restart the war after the midterms, calling the plans "insane." "I will just say this: their plan is insane. It will lead to devastating escalation and the likely destruction of our commitment to the rule of law," he said at the Middle East Institute event. The plan "will be devastating for our security interests," he adds.

Ueck is smiling at them from Heaven.
Do know how much legendary status you need to have for fans who’ve never experienced a World Series win to take the time from their celebrations to leave over 100 Miller Lite cans beside Bob Uecker’s statue last night. Glad to see Brewers fans treated him right last night and gave him his flowers while celebrating
