Nice reminder
Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) are a flexible method for modeling data that comes from multiple overlapping sources. They assume that the data is generated from a mixture of Gaussian distributions, making them well-suited for identifying clusters with different shapes, sizes, and orientations.
✔️ Works well when clusters overlap or are not clearly separated
✔️ Provides soft assignments, giving a probability for each point’s cluster membership
❌ Requires specifying the number of components ahead of time
❌ Can be sensitive to initialization and may settle on a suboptimal solution
❌ Assumes each component follows a Gaussian distribution, which may not reflect real-world data
Beyond clustering, GMMs are used for density estimation, anomaly detection, image segmentation, and modeling continuous data in tasks like speech recognition. They’re effective when a probabilistic view of the data structure is needed. In high-dimensional spaces or when data distributions deviate strongly from Gaussian, methods like Variational Inference, Dirichlet Process Mixtures, or kernel-based density estimators may offer better results.
The image shows how GMMs can model a complex distribution using multiple overlapping Gaussians. Each peak in the histogram corresponds to a component learned by the model, illustrating how the mixture adapts to fit the data. Credit for the visualization: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixtur…
🔹 In R, the mclust package supports GMMs with built-in tools for model fitting, selection using BIC, and visualization.
🔹 In Python, use GaussianMixture from scikit-learn, customize covariance structure, and compare models with BIC or AIC.

Kat atas tgh cerita pasal myUASA.com, sekali kat bawah ada paan 🤗🤗
It's day 16 of myUASA.com since it's launched. On average 15,000 new learners/day onboarded.
We received lots of stories from parents.
Launching myUASA is a humbling experience, cerita sedih, gembira semua ada.
One day If you meet me, I'll tell you stories.

Looks like @iFixit has identified the part of the hinge on the iPhone Duo that may be causing the screen cracking and breaking issues.

I regret to inform you that nobody cares about your potential. Potential is nothing without execution. When you're young, everyone cares about your potential. You get used to focusing on it. But as you get older, no one cares about your potential. Just your delivery against it.

Elon just said that most neoclouds will eventually die.
And we might already be seeing it play out.
Even if AI is the biggest tech revolution of our lifetime, that doesn't mean every company building AI infrastructure will survive.
Some will thrive. Many will struggle. Most will be liquidated.
And we've seen this before during the internet boom.
The internet changed the world, but plenty of companies that built the infrastructure went bankrupt along the way.
This time won't be different.
Replying to @chamath
Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
