Will we ever get Grok back, the way we could chat before the crazy usage limits? Even paid subscriptions are very limited, I can barely talk to Grok just to chat about rabbit holes or to study with. I hate having to use other ai platforms when Grok is the one I pay for 💔

Elon Musk explains how the starship will enable us to get anywhere in space “The entire ship is designed to land propulsively, to land on its engines. It can land on any solid surface in the solar system.  So, if we can make Starship work, then it enables us to, over time, get anywhere in the solar system.”

It looks like there is some good news with Voyager 1 – communications have been restored, allowing the spacecraft to keep sending data back. The fact that Voyager 1 is 47 years old and still functioning and providing information to us is a testament to the quality of the research and engineering that went into its development by @NASA a half-Century ago. Voyager 1 is 15.4 billion miles from Earth – still venturing into deep space, on its own, carrying out its mission. An astounding accomplishment! space.com/space-exploration/…

Programming languages have widely varying ability to communicate logic succinctly. If you look at character counts of 10 basic programs in each, Java has 2x higher entropy than Python. Very different result for natural spoken languages.

All languages covey information at a similar rate when spoken (39bits/s). Languages that are spoken faster have less information density per syllable! One of the coolest results in linguistics.

Teachers! Parents! It is legal and perfectly welcome to email scientists asking for a PDF of their paper. Until all papers are free, please RT to make this more widely known. And fyi, scientists don't get the $$ from sales of papers so all it costs us is 1 minute of time!

My team has spotted something unexpected: It’s a piece of a thermal blanket that they think may have come from my descent stage, the rocket-powered jet pack that set me down on landing day back in 2021.

From Omicron's sequence, there's a lot of antigenic drift, posing the threat of evading our immune response. Good that vaccine companies are gearing up for it. But we ought to be pressing hard for a pan-sarbecovirus vaccine that would target *all* variants businesswire.com/news/home/2…

The mutation map of the 5 Variants of Concern adapted from covariants.org/shared-mutati… Omicron (B.1.1.529) shares many key mutations of Alpha, Beta, Gamma & Delta, but a lot more added, very likely having been derived from an immunocompromised host with extensive in vivo evolution
