Given the obvious challenges, why do dentists continue to work for the NHS? My team has conducted research into dentists' motivations and the push-pull factors at play nature.com/articles/s41415-0…

Just this.
Said it before & I’ll say again. Asylum seekers cannot claim benefits… you need an NI number to do that. They can’t work… you need an NI number to do that. They’re not housed in luxury hotels. And they’re given the grand total of £49.18p a week to live on. Could you live on it?

Important point NOT being made by @TheBDA is that this is a failure of the system due to lack of access, NOT NHS dentists. 90%patients more than satisfied with hardworking NHS dental teams &care they receive. Can we be more accurate with the narrative-we are demoralised enough.
Satisfaction in NHS dentistry is at an all time low. What we need from Government is a proportionate response👇

I don’t know what’s sadder, the 20 a day smoker or the dental representative who had clearly not thought to consider the pertinent questions posed by the public … we need dentists to fight the cause who know how to articulate the issues
How terribly sad so let’s try and fix this

"I just want an NHS dentist" A heart-breaking message from a patient who took matters into her own hands. This isn't just about dealing with pain. It's about confidence, employability, the ability to eat, sleep & communicate. It's why we must fix this.

Abolishing NHSE &taking it back into DHSC is bitter sweet. Back to being a political football and I can’t see anything under Wes Streeting working but equally we finally stop paying the incompetent morons in central NHSE commissioning and there may FINALLY be accountability

Fully welcome these common sense changes &congratulate @Dentistry for campaigning the GDC for trying to create positive changes, can we also ask you consider use of language, tone &use of font/bolding when communicating with registrants as this can cause massive undue stress?
We have today announced changes to our continuing professional development (CPD) processes, after a review and feedback from stakeholders aimed at enhancing accessibility. Read more: gdc-uk.org/news-blogs/news/d… #cpd #dentistry #dentalcare

Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth: December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia. February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness. July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden. February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically. U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war. ~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff. The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP. America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates. Slava Ukraina.

White French surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec- pure scum. Sexually assaulting and raping 299 children. FBI were on to him when he PAID to watch someone online to rape a child. Where is the f-ing outrage? What if he was Algerian? Or Sudanese? Double standards. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cr72…

Hate nonsense polls like these. Yes, and let’s force private schools to take kids in from the state sector, lawyers to do pro bono work, force private medics to see NHS patients…if the public sector was fair and competitive this wouldn’t be an issue. This isn’t about money
Today, a dental practice in Bristol is opening up 100 spaces for NHS patients. But it's estimated that nearly one-third of registered dentists are working solely in private practice. So should private dentists be forced to take on NHS patients?

I would argue children aren’t skipping anything, it’s their parents who don’t want to either take advice, or action it leading to a huge detriment to their child’s oral health and well-being. Dental decay is in 99% of cases preventable. There needs to be shared responsibility
The latest research has revealed that children are skipping oral health recommendations which is leading to dental health issues. Find out more here: ➡️ ow.ly/ba8i50UTbiG #flossing #floss #children #oralhealth #oralhygiene #toothdecay #dental #dentistry

🇬🇧 'British Teeth' are a total myth. 🇺🇸Academics have found Americans of working age are missing more teeth. Decent care for the many beats 'Hollywood Smiles' for the few. But decades of progress is at risk unless Government promises on prevention and NHS dentistry are kept.

Promises will not cure toothache: Action will. My message to government in @thetimes👇
For the first time in its 76-year history, NHS dentistry was a doorstep issue in a General Election.   Fuelling a crisis facing millions is a broken contract.   Failure to deliver reform will carry a political cost.   Our letter to @thetimes

If you’re going to read 1 thing today… this is a fantastic piece by @DrPaulLeavy summing up what is actually happening on the ground and why the NHS system is so broken. National commissioners might want to take notes…(or not as seems to be the norm) sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
