It’s been a very exciting few weeks in the Jones lab! Honored & proud to announce that Dr. Ryan Thorpe successfully defended his PhD. Stayed tuned for a paper on his brilliant theory on the inhibitory mechanisms supporting deviance detection in the neocortex... coming soon.
Ryan is off to start an exciting postdoc at U Colorado with @zpkilpat & @DDiGrego_Neuro. & Our lab manager/RA Liz Kaplan is starting the next stage of her career as a PhD student in the amazing VoteK lab UCSD. Incredibly grateful for their time with us & for their bright futures!

We're excited for @darcydiesburg latest results applying @HNNsolver to study mechanisms of the stopping process in frontal cortex. Be sure to stop by her poster on Friday 8/9 if you're at @CogCompNeuro and be in touch to learn more!
Looking forward to attending @CogCompNeuro for the first time this week!
Our #CCN2024 poster on how circuit mechanisms (modeled with @HNNsolver) in PFC underlying ERPs and transient beta interact and impact EEG-sensor signatures of stopping will be in Poster Sesh C on Fri. 8/9.
It was a great pleasure to work with @cheseachiek and Armelle Varillas & all the other amazing students in the @CarneyInstitute Brown Carney Summer Scholars program tinyurl.com/2ds62mfe . Thank you for all the hard work. Looking forward to following your bright future!

Thrilled to see these exciting results from Darcy in print in Journal of Neuroscience @SFNjournals! I learned so much about stop signaling from Darcy and you will too. BONUS: It's the first application of @HNNsolver to understand prefrontal cortex signals.
Replying to @darcydiesburg
Stoked to see this first postdoc paper, including @HNNsolver, published! Thanks to @drstephjones for teaching me to use HNN (and how to write a comp neuro paper 😱), @Wessel_Lab for the awesome guidance on framing re: stopping per usual 🛑🐎, and our peer reviewers and editors.

And another foundational paper by @NickTolley4 and colleagues @agramfort @plc_rodrigues laying out methods and considerations for using simulation based inference in detailed neural models like HNN @HNNsolver.
Super happy to share that the first major paper from my PhD has been published in @PLOSCompBiol! 🧠🖥️🧪

Couldn't have done it without my wonderful coauthors @drstephjones @agramfort and @plc_rodrigues
Excited to share new paper by Ryan Thorpe & colleagues using HNN to examine detailed mechanisms generating non-painful median nerve and painful laser evoked M/EEG activity. Check out many detailed predictions laying the foundation for further study of these fundamental signals!
