American marathoning has leveled up so much in the past 4 years
The fact that 2:07 and 11th in New York is a "bad" day is amazing
That would have been a banner day for an American half a decade ago

We had a DAY at the @nycmarathon

Our team was led today by a brilliant 3rd place finish for Kamohelo Mofolo and 12th for Julia Paternain.
Both athletes gave the very best of themselves... in training and in the race. We are massively proud of their efforts and achievements.
Today we celebrate... tomorrow we rest.

At Monday's Faxon Law #NewHavenRoadRace Rachael Rudel won her first @usatf title, clocking 1:04:58 for 20K, just 29s off of the course record.
"Definitely top three was my goal," she said. "It's a pleasant little surprise when you get the title."

THE CHASE IS OVER 🙌
On her first attempt at the ISTAF Berlin, Chase Jackson resets her own American record with a huge mark of 21.02m, becoming the third woman this century to break the 21m barrier without serving a doping ban.
After 14 months of close calls (20.95m, 20.94m, 20.92m, 20.90m), the three-time global champion finally joins Jessica Schilder and Valerie Adams in this elite club.
When Jackson and Schilder square off in next week’s Diamond League Final, it will be the first time since the 2012 Olympics that two 21m throwers are in the same competition (Adams vs. Nadzeya Ostapchuk, who was DQed).

I always remember it because when they see the WR, MHS, literally drops to the floor. One of the races that got me into commentary.

Danny Mackey, who just coached Josh Kerr to breaking the 27 year old mile world record, was rejected by over 200 college coaching jobs early in his coaching career.
The NCAA hiring system often sucks. And misses out on very good young talented coaches.
