2/ Freezing neuromodulation shifts the fast/slow balance fourfold (2.04 → 7.99), and each version fires in its own rhythm. Living longest isnt adapting best. Across generations: early continuity, not inheritance.

It's nice that we have Vitalik who brings attention to problems, not nice that he waited that long. I warned about #AI hacking cryptography 9 (nine) years ago. And even proposed a solution.

An #AI without access to a true random number generator (one that nobody can rig) is cooked.

To AI, a second and an hour are the same thing.
$QUBIC’s argument: real intelligence has to live through time, not just read it.
Here’s something about AI that’s very interesting, and it comes from a deep research piece by the Qubic team.
The AI we all use doesn’t actually understand time. At all.
Think about it like this. To that kind of AI, time is just order. First word, second word, third word. That’s it. It has no sense of how long anything lasts. A pause of one second and a pause of one hour? To the AI, they’re completely identical. It can’t tell the difference, because it never actually lived through either of them.
It doesn’t learn while it’s working either. Its brain is basically frozen the moment it’s trained. It only “remembers” whatever’s in front of it in that one conversation.
Now compare that to your brain. You’re running dozens of clocks at once. From microseconds, like working out which direction a sound came from, all the way up to the seasons of the year. And you learn constantly, in real time, as life happens.
That’s $QUBIC’s whole argument. Real intelligence needs to actually experience time, not just read it like a list. So that’s what they’re trying to build. AI that lives through time, like a brain does

Yann LeCun's latest talk at ETH Zürich
"You should not work on LLM. At least if you're in academia, you should absolutely not work on LLMs. There is nothing you can bring to the table.
If you're interested in making real progress in AI, in sort of grounded AI for the real world, if you want physical AI, don't work on LLMs, and don't work on generative models either.
So, as you can probably guess, this does not make me very popular in Silicon Valley."

That video is 2 years old.
Two years later, we are still far from human-level AI.
Sure, AI has superhuman performance in a number of tasks (particularly in mathematics and coding and answering questions with known answers).
But where is my Level-5 self-driving car?
(Before you ask, Tesla FSD is rated Level 2, Waymo is Level 4).
Where is the self-driving car that can teach itself to drive in 20 hours of practice like any 17 year old?
(Before you ask, we have billions of hours of training data and still can't successfully train a self-driving system by imitation learning)
Where is my domestic robot?
Where is the robot that can do what any 8 year-old child can do?
Where is the robot that can learn a new task as quickly as an 8 year old?
AI still has a hard time with the complexity and messiness of the physical world.
