“the third generation of Steinbrenners who will eventually run the team”
Hal Steinbrenner said the $2.6 billion the Yankees took from Apollo was about financial stability — and for the third generation of Steinbrenners who will eventually run the team.
Steinbrenner says there's no intent to sell.

About as well as a coach could handle this imo
#Titans HC Robert Saleh says Jordan Elliott having a gun was, in a way, a “small sign of a cry for help,” considering he had no prior issues and is a father and a hard worker.
Saleh referenced two suicides in the NFL over the past year and expressed concern about players struggling without getting the help they need.
“These kids go through a lot. I will stand on the table for Jordan’s character. My message to 31 other teams: If you need a hell of a run-stopping DT that can help for a playoff run, give me a call. I'll tell you everything you need to know about him. He’s a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment.”
I don’t think the Lions have used the franchise tag on anyone since Brad Holmes has been here, but if they can’t get an extension done this seems like the right time for it
Sam LaPorta on not receiving an extension from the Lions, via @PardonMyTake:
"You know, like last year, whatever it was, Week 9, Week 10, you know, I break my fucking back for the team and then I'm going out there this year and I'm balling and maybe they're just not showing the love ... And in three months, if I don't get to wear the Honolulu blue and play for the Lions anymore, it's going to be all good. I'll go get paid somewhere else."

What’s he supposed to say? Cashman could write a tell all book about his dad that would make your toes curl

Wow
Bob Costas was 18 when his father dropped dead at JFK airport. At the wake, a man handed him a thick envelope with $6,000 in $100 bills. It was everything his father left behind, and a bookie would never have paid it to a dead man.
In the video below, he tells the story himself.
His father, John, was a big-time gambler. Not casinos, not racetracks. Ball games. Bob says the mortgage was literally riding on his bets.
When the games went the wrong way, he threw things, cursed and yelled. Bob’s mom and sister would leave. Bob stayed, because watching the games with his dad was the only way to be close to him.
Friday, May 15, 1970. A cop knocks on the door. Before he says a word, Bob’s mother asks, “My husband’s dead, isn’t he?” John Costas had a heart attack walking through JFK. He was 42.
At the wake, one of his gambling buddies walked in with the envelope. “Your father was up when he died. Give this to your mother.” A bookie never pays a dead man, so the friend went to the bookie himself and said John sent him to collect.
Decades later, Bob Costas refused to read sports betting ads on air. Today the bookie lives in everyone’s phone. Is that progress?

As a Lions fan I generally don't take anything seriously from PoD unless Jeremy Reisman wrote it.
Finally
“The NFLPA is not aware of any NFL investigation into the medical care provided to Jalen Hurts. In fact, the league previously informed the union that it did not plan to review the care he received. Before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled, there must be a full investigation into what occurred. Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and protection going forward.”
— Statement from the NFLPA after a report from The Athletic that the NFL has concluded the #Eagles acted appropriately in their handling of Jalen Hurts after the team and Hurts’ agent Nicole Lynn said in a statement that he was diagnosed with having a blood clot the morning before the Eagles faced the Jaguars in London. Hurts flew home on the team charter after the game.

Crazy to see Detroit’s surplus of defensive ability and effort contrasted with Boston’s lack of defensivr ability and effort. Pistons also have so many more sources of defensive playmaking. Just on a different tier from the Celtics.
