If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up men to gather wood, divide work, and give orders. Instead, tell stories of a vast and endless sea
Crazy waves and wind on Fort Lauderdale Beach right now, but no flooding yet on A1A. High tide could get nasty later tonight with the king tides.
Meta borrowing tips straight out of the “Microcap CEO’s Guide to Raising Capital.” Announce you have no plans to dilute, then do an equity offering a few days later.
On the Q3 earnings call Meta’s CFO said, “We do not have any specific financing plans to announce at this time.”
This morning: $35B stock offering, which is on top of the up to $60B ATM early next year.
A guy on Reddit said his iPhone duo screen cracked along the hinge within six hours.
Apple execs have said, “hold us accountable”.
This is where all the screens seem to be breaking. H/t @kro_roe
Unnecessarily complicated micro-engineering on the iPhone Duo hinge.
Makes you wonder how the Tesla or SpaceX team would look at this, especially with Elon’s rule: “the best part is no part.”

I tried the Samsung fold 8 and thought the form factor and ergonomics were pretty compelling.
But Apple decided to make the iPhone Duo much heavier and much thicker, remove Face ID, use a mid camera package, weirdly placed volume buttons, and no action button.
And then the “back” navigation button is on the right hand side?? On the external display, you’re actually getting usable screen space approximately the size of the iPhone mini.
It’s also significantly heavier and thicker than the Samsung fold 8.
One of the reasons the Steve Jobs era was so successful is that products weren’t designed by committee.
Very clean setup short setup on $AAPL. It caught a bid this week as a perceived safety trade, but Q3 iPhone sell-through is going to be ugly. Risk/reward here is heavily skewed.

Good guy to follow.
He’s also not that grumpy in person. 😉
So... I've kind of grown myself an audience I never really expected or intended to.
My account is sort of a novelty; I post and pin my monthly updates, which seem to be the driver (and which massively overstates my competence), and I *occasionally* write an alpha-laden post on a name I hold and don't think is getting good discussion, but largely I just retweet stuff I like and browse around.
With that in mind, I'd like to highlight some accounts wrongfully smaller than mine which post far more actionable and sophisticated intelligence with far more frequency.
In no particular order:
@UCompounders has written some simply excellent content on my two big sectors, mining and defense. He highlights tons of interesting research pulled from financial journals as well.
@StableBread pulls together tons of information on stocks I follow into easily readable posts. He's also building really stellar tooling for research, parsing and surfacing information buried in filings.
@MicrocapDr brings tons of experience, an attention to detail, and a critical eye, to many microcaps, especially in the energy space.
@thegresearch is a young analyst bringing serious research to bear in an array of industries. Puts up great performance as a testament to skill.
@aviancapital is sitting just behind me on follower count but should be way ahead. Provides excellent perspective on the environment we're in, posts excellent research, and has launched a L/S fund that, if you're an accredited investor, may be of interest to you.
@Raunav410657 digs into overlooked opportunities across an array of drivers and catalysts, and posts excellent alpha-rich articles on SS.
If you're into metals and mining, I'm not sure there are many people posting better industry and technical content than @HankRuehl.
@bmb21 is a sophisticated microcap investor worth paying attention to. Lower volume, higher signal.
There are of course many great names I'm missing, but for my feed, these are names I've been very happy to see, and each of them contribute far more value than I do.
Seriously, I don't deserve the reach I have (even if it's small in the grand scheme). Each of the above have a legitimate reason to be followed more than I. Give em a look.
Scoop: Top executives at Anthropic, OpenAI and other AI companies are privately gaming out scenarios for a public and political revolt after a catastrophic AI event…They assume one in ‘27…

It will be Shakespearian-level irony if OpenAI’s financial gaslighting pops the bubble in stocks today, and in 6 months their newest model breaks encryption, implodes crypto, and freezes the banking system.
Not again…
“Nearly 200 People Under Observation After Irkutsk Lab Worker Dies From Plague" - Moscow Times
🚨☣️More details on the Oct 1st pneumonic plague outbreak in Siberia, after a lab accident at a BSL-3 lab.
"FSB units accompanying ambulances transporting people who had been in contact with [lab tech] Shipilova for medical examination," as per local news. This is significant. FSB is Russia's domestic security / counterintelligence service, tasked w/implementing the national security of Russia." (Its predecessor was the KGB). This suggests quarantine was not voluntary.
It also means Russian authorities are treating the lab accident and plague outbreak as a national security issue, involving a lot more than routine public health.
This is fantastic news! Higher quality academic programs are desperately needed here. @PurdueCS let’s open a campus in South Florida!
Congrats to Carnegie Mellon.
🚨 BREAKING: Ken Griffin is donating $2 BILLION to launch a Carnegie Mellon University campus in Miami.. the largest individual gift to higher education in U.S. history.
The new 35-acre campus will be located in Wynwood and focus on computer science, AI, robotics, technology and innovation.
This is a MASSIVE win for Miami’s evolution into a global tech and innovation hub.
Watch this. Incredible
Through the VOICE trial, Terry is using his Neuralink implant to help fine-tune a brain-to-voice interface for himself and others who can’t speak. He trained the algorithm first by miming speech as best he could, then by simply thinking the words and hearing them come out in his own natural voice.

Harvest season is in full swing for farmers. Last year at this time diesel was $3.75 / gal. Now it’s approaching $6.50 / gal.
Farmers must harvest their crops. They can’t delay and hope for lower diesel prices and risk that crops will spoil.
Food prices are headed much higher. Inflation is going to be very sticky.
What is Warsh going to do?
