Since Bitlocker has suddenly become very popular I thought I would publish some scripts I made to help with recovering the FVEK when sniffing the keys from a TPM en4rab.github.io/posts/Sniff…
I had a bag of Xhorse XT136 car key transponders delivered today and had a quick look at how their communications works. They are very similar to the xt27a en4rab.github.io/posts/XT136…
Happy Halloween! This rotary x-ray of a dead sparrow seems appropriate for the occasion.
I have been looking at the Xhorse XT27A superchip. Its a configurable RFID transponder used to program replacement car keys.
I wanted to be able to use the chip with the Proxmark3. This post is what I have found out so far.

Has anyone considered using 4️⃣ as their private key? In unicode it's 7 bytes (56 bits).
This feels like a fair compromise between the two main stakeholder positions, "Private keys should be at least a little bit secure" vs "I want my private key to be 4"

Announcing 3 Critical vulns for hundreds of millions of IoT, Firewalls, OT, and Military devices including: Palo Alto Networks, Comcast, D-Link, HP, Canon, Honeywell, GE, Oracle, Siemens, Rockwell, Digi, Lockheed Martin, Boeing...
The vulns are with GoAhead Web Server which is a backend library used by these devices. There's a patch available from GoAhead but that doesn't mean there's a patch available for the devices yet -- that's up to the manufacturer.
- TLS traffic over DHE ciphers have a 1-byte secret, "04", meaning anyone can decrypt connections to these devices and steal login credentials and session tokens if the client negotiated with DHE ciphers like the latest TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256, which is extremely likely.
- LibreSSL mTLS has been completely bypassed, meaning anyone can connect over mTLS. If you have one of these devices listening on the internet and are expecting mTLS to protect it from attackers, take it offline or patch asap.
- OpenSSL Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) are not enforced, meaning if a user device is stolen or compromised, and you revoke that mTLS cert, nothing actually happens. There are a lot of other attacks this can be used for.
These are critical because these types of devices run our world. Water systems, electricity, military, firewalls, critical infrastructure.

Philomena: Some people have been writing PHP for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?
Expert: No, software is constantly evolving.
Philomena: So they've been writing the same website for 20 years?
Expert: No, different projects.
Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?
Expert: That's not how software development works.
Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.
Expert: Right.
Philomena: Is PHP like that?

Its Friday night and time to go wild! Today I had a Dabao Evaluation Board delivered for the Baochip-1x from baochip.com
I don't have an IR microscope (yet) so i can't inspect the silicon but i can X-ray the board!
Its baby steps but i got XT27A chip support working on the proxmark3 today. I still have alot of tidying up to do and i need to fix the reset command so you can put the tags back to factory.
