We gave the Times the chance to do the right thing yesterday.
Instead, they’re going with an argument that basically boils down to:
*We randomly produced our first ever plume model about the exact same incident that Hunterbrook exposed with a plume model
*We randomly took a lead photo of the exact same home on the exact same street
*We randomly interviewed the same expert
Etc.
They wrote a great story. Obviously, we care about the subject deeply. It’s just a huge bummer for our team and the reporters who worked relentlessly on these stories.
Breaking: Several sections of @NYTimes front page story today mirror two earlier Hunterbrook investigations — without attribution.

around 80% of data center funding is through tech giant cash flows. if this shit goes belly up it will be bad because of how vital they are to the major indexes, but let's all calm down.

Did Elizabeth Holmes coming after me and my sources with everything she had and threatening to sue us out of existence bias me? Yes.
Replying to @JohnCarreyrou @nytimes
I am a big fan of you, don’t get me wrong. but My question is do you think you have any bias as a result of your experience as a journalist in this case?
You’d have to be completely insane to turn over your proprietary data to these psychos

When accounts post, share or comment at very high frequencies it can trigger automated systems. That's what happened with the No Kings IG account in the lead up to today's day of action. Unfortunately, that automated action was clearly taken in error. Everything is now working as it should and we sincerely apologize.

A few readers have taken me to task for “missing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.
A ton of people have asked me for my thoughts about “You Can See Everything,” the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Here they are: nytimes.com/2026/10/17/busin… via @NYTimes

This is a huge scandal: The campaign of Brazil's far-right, US-backed presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro paid a US company that sells an AI system for manipulating elections.
Bolsonaro's right-wing party also paid the US company, which maps voters and makes fake social media accounts to spread disinformation online targeting crucial voters.
This revelation comes after Meta admitted that it censored the accounts of left-wing candidate Lula da Silva and promoted Bolsonaro on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

When Trump raided John Bolton last year it was met w/ immediate outrage in the opinion pages of NYT, WSJ, WaPo, Atlantic & New Yorker. Since Rep Omar was raided Mon––and subsquently threatened w/ deportation––these same outlets have been silent. I wrote about this double standard
Unlike the raid on John Bolton, the targeting of Omar has elicited zero condemnation from NYT, WSJ, and Washington Post. theintercept.com/2026/10/15/…

Quantum could be a $2.7 trillion industry by 2035. Most cities would hand out tax breaks and hope. Mamdani got New Yorkers 15% of the revenue, three board seats, and a cut of any IPO or sale.
Any VC would demand similar terms. Why shouldn’t the public?
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. nyti.ms/4jUe7GD

Listening to David Axelrod tell @jonfavs that corruption arguments against Susan Collins are inadvisable demonstrates that a perpetual class of affluent consultants are ill-suited to a populist moment with widespread cynicism.

This makes me so sad. I average 3 hours a day and part of that is professional obligations. I feel addicted and leave my phone in my bedroom after 6pm.
I can’t believe the average is more than double.

How much are @DeionSanders and Nick Saban getting paid to support the Protect College Sports Act? Neither of them ties their shoes for free.
if you ever feel embarrassed about something you did/said at work, just remember that one time someone earnestly tried to convince the pope that a chat bot had a soul.
NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…
