🎉 Exciting news! Led by @mackgutierrezz, our latest on the gut mycobiome and its role in metabolic health is now published in @NatureComms ! 🧫🍄 Explore how fungal colonization influences obesity and metabolic inflammation in mice. shorturl.at/Sstq0 🧵
Midflight celebration for my first successful application as a postdoc 🤩🎉 i am happy to announce my application was selected for the @EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship #EMBOFellows
Huge thank you to my supervisor, Dr William Agace for the support in the application, @ArrietaLab and @KathyDMcCoy for the (certainly) great reference letters, Dr Gerard Eberl for the exciting discussion in the interview, and the @EMBO selection committee for this offer 🙏
I had the pleasure of contributing to this piece on the mycobiome. It is super cool to see it out :)

This week i had the pleasure to present my PhD work with @ArrietaLab at the Intertissue Immune Regulation oral abstract session at #icmi2024. Really glad for all the interactions, feedback, and running into so many friends.
Just posted on @biorxivpreprint
One day late for #dayofimmunology though happy to share the latest paper from my PhD with @ArrietaLab

Soo well deserved!!! 🙌 congratulations @ArrietaLab
Dr. Marie-Claire Arrieta is a new member of the Royal Soc. of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists & Scientists. Her research studies the the microbiome during early life & its influence in pediatric immune, metabolic and neurological development. bit.ly/49lk0UW

Excited to announce my next adventure!!! After 9,5 years at @UCalgaryMed (MSc+RA+PhD), I am starting a postdoc on the other side of the pond.
In just a few weeks I am joining the @williamagace group at @UCPH_Research (official picture to come).
Really looking forward to join this new team, and to keep researching how the microbiome interacts with the host immune system! 🤓
I will be applying a lot of what i learned with @ArrietaLab. Also excited to continue collaborating with @KathyDMcCoy and many others.

So exited to share our newest paper in @NatureMedicine, where we link early life gut virome with later asthma.
Specific compositions of temperate phages drive the association independently from their bacterial counterpart and interacts with host genetics.

Many studies have focused on the microbiome and atopic disease. What role might the mycobiome hold? Recent findings implicate intestinal fungi as central players as well as potential targets for atopy prevention and treatments. Learn more. bit.ly/46EMx68

Yesterday I successfully defended my doctorate. It wasn’t an easy ride, but i sure enjoyed it. PhD done!!!!
I am glad academia gave me the opportunity to meet so many brilliant and inspiring people.
Thank you also for the additional evaluators @IlievLab and Dr. Richard Leigh for your comments on my thesis, and for challenging me during the defense. It was humbling to be evaluated by such giants in the field.
