This is the first election since 2016 where people don't think Trump is a good steward of the economy. If you had not seen a single poll of this election, you'd assume there would be a blue wave based on that alone.

I genuinely think that Bitcoin and other vibe-based "commodities" broke everyone's brains. Either the oil gets delivered or it doesn't. The war is causing massive disruptions in getting it delivered. You can't "good vibes only" to lower prices.
Every normie feels in their gut that oil should go higher. And every oil expert seems to think that every day we get closer to the true disaster scenario. So why is it that oil is not only below the highs of the month, but, as @JavierBlas pointed out, far below the 2022 highs?

*If* it is true that the war is on a course to end, then we have codified Iran's control over global energy markets and strengthened them long term, though they did take a short term beating. Great job everyone.

I think that the war with Iran ends well before the end of March. The Gulf states cannot ask their populations to suffer on behalf of the US and Israel indefinitely. And the US is limited in the type of war it can wage without the Gulf states. Iran also wants an offramp.

IMO, it is crazy how many people struggle with the idea that the most likely outcome of the 3rd Gulf War is a lose-lose scenario, where Iran suffers massive damage but the USA and Israel don't achieve most of their goals.

FWIW I don't find the idea that Iran would keep launching missiles/drones after the US/Israel stopped attacking Iran to make a lot of sense. They effectively win the war just by surviving and rebuilding their missile stocks. Strong likelihood that they "take the w" if offered.
86
Wow that's crazy, maybe attacking Iran did not in fact enhance the credibility of US deterrence in Asia. Who would have thought?
“Allies in the Pacific — where China has built the world’s largest Navy and now has missiles that can attack American troops on Guam — are worried that the Pentagon will run out of ammunition in Iran and won’t have any left to deter a war in Asia.” politi.co/3MPsEWh

It's times like this that you question the wisdom of trying to build a city that is 170 kilometers long and one block wide in the middle of the desert instead of simply building more infrastructure to move oil products from the Persian Gulf coast to the Red Sea coast.

Thread below. As I stated, this should be read as a strategic decision to abandon Taiwan. Perhaps the idea of defending Taiwan had already been deemed impossible.
What if the U.S. sent half of its THAAD and SM-3 interceptors to the Middle East? How long could they last under June-level firing rates? Let’s break it down 🧵

The US has made a strategic decision to cede Taiwan. Do the simple math on what it takes to defend Israel/Gulf states in 2026 and then Taiwan in 2027. The capabilities simply do not exist.

Opinions that go hard if you drank bleach as a child.
Anti-tariffers yesterday: “the consumer is paying for all these tariffs!” Anti-tariffers today: “Actually, importers had to absorb all these tariffs so they deserve a refund!”

Sen. Britt, DHS approps chair, is here & will meet with Approps Chair Susan Collins later. Britt, who helped negotiate the end to the last shutdown, tells me she thinks there’s a way to address Dems’ concerns without amending the funding package. “There are likely things that we can look at outside of these [bills] to see if there’s a pathway forward,” Britt says

Mamdani and Trump have one thing in common: They are both blessed by the ineptitude of their opponents.
How’s a so-called “working class” mayoral candidate like Zohran Mamdani eating at OMEN SUSHI tonight — one of the priciest joints in NYC? 🍣💰 This clown lives in a rent-stabilized apartment in Queens but dines like a diplomat on a Qatar-funded per diem. Who’s paying for that toro, “Zoron the Moron”? You ain’t working class — you’re fraud class. #ZohranMamdani #ZoronTheMoron

And you're somewhat bizarrely boosting the replies of hyper-partisan blue check reply people as if that's somehow representative of Americans, but in reality Americans already tie tariffs and other taxes to price increases.

"China is buying them from Argentina instead of from American farmers because of Trump's tariffs. And now, Trump is rewarding Argentina for undercutting you and your neighbors by sending them $20billion of your tax dollars." -If Dems are competent, the message is simple.

Free campaign ad ideas: clip "we solved inflation, we solved prices" alongside footage of the affordability crisis.
Trump: We won in 2020 big… We have already solved inflation, we solved prices

Wow I wonder if there's a recent example of an American ideological movement that tried to censor its critics, get them fired from jobs, make it taboo to disagree with them, etc, and then that didn't magically translate to making their bad ideas popular.

I really don’t care if you liked Charlie Kirk or like Jimmy Kimmel. If you are unable to separate your partisanship from Kirk’s death being objectively tragic and horrific and the FCC chief’s threats being objectively outrageous and ominous, you are part of the problem.
