Two iPhone Duos in less than a week, and both have failed the exact same way.
The replacement unit picked up after the 23 October launch has already developed the same loose hinge and creaking sound around the lower fold mechanism as the first one this morning.
At this stage, it looks like classic early adopter tax. Handing it back for a refund today. I will wait for gen two next year to see if the engineering holds up.
Time to go back to trusted folds.
I understand the hate on the 2026 touchscreen Macbook Pros. The issue with the new touchscreen MacBook Pro is not the touch capability itself. It is Apple removing customer choice.
By eliminating a non touchscreen tier, Apple has just pushed baseline prices up across the board. If your daily production setup lives on external monitors, keyboards, and precision trackpads, you are forced to subsidise hardware you will actively avoid smudging.

I'm autistic and have ADHD. I usually know exactly what needs doing. The hard part is starting: finding the right file, double-triple checking, writing the reply, hitting send. A five-minute letter can feel like a wall.
Got two emails this week: one from accountant, the other from our self-managed super fund auditor. Both high stakes, urgent and important. The exact AuDHD cryptonite that makes it scary and impossible.
Today I just told my AI-bots what was needed. Grok Build searched my files and inbox, found what I needed (including something I'd already sent last year but forgot, and that they'd already lost) and drafted both replies.
I reviewed them and hit send. Massive weight off my shoulders.
This is why I'm so excited about AI. It's not hype. It is genuinely useful. It gets you past the wall.
What's one email you've been putting off? Hand it to your bot tonight 👇 #BEATsparks – at Angle Vale, South Australia

A technical showcase, but that Australian price tag makes gorilla arm a seriously expensive indulgence.

We new this was coming in a week after Duo’s release ✅
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has earned another big vote of confidence in the US.
Consumer Reports has awarded Samsung's latest foldable its “CR Recommended” designation, putting it alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The organization evaluates devices across several categories, including reliability, camera quality, battery life, and charging, before making its recommendations.
The recognition comes as @Samsung continues to see strong demand for its foldables. Combined Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra purchases are tracking 30% ahead of previous Fold generations, making this year's lineup one of Samsung's most successful yet.
Just told my story to Grok in my Tesla while driving home and Grok’s savage response 😂😂:
Apple.
Think Different.
Eight years of “think different” and the different thing they landed on is a hinge that gives up faster than a New Year’s resolution.
They had a decade to study what Samsung and Google got wrong, and somehow still shipped a product where the one moving part is the part that breaks.
Peak Apple: take everyone’s homework, miss the lesson, charge $1200 more for it.🤦🏽♂️😭
