Happy to announce I built a Greek/English reader site with all the surviving plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, & Aristophanes. Multiple translations for each play; click to parse & define for any Greek word; full Greek & English search. greekdrama.johnhboyer.com

“Today, the Big Five publishers are staffed almost entirely by women. According to the most recent data, more than 70 percent of staffers are women. More than 70 percent of editors are women. Even 70 percent of all interns are women. At the executive level, more than 60 percent of leaders are women. In 2026, American publishing looks like lululemon.”
Is the "boys don't read" problem a matter of supply or demand? More than 70 percent of staff at America's Big Five publishers are women, as are more than 70 percent of editors and a majority of executives. Adam Szetela argues this is the single biggest transformation in the history of American publishing, and that an industry recruiting almost entirely from elite universities has narrowed what reaches the shelves. quillette.com/2026/10/23/why…

Our local PBS station used to play these as reruns. A local punk band in the '90s took a stage littered with old CRT TVs with rabbit ears, some on their sides, some upside down. As they played, the Lawrence Welk reruns would fade in and out of the static. It was pretty great.

The Greek Orthodox Monastery of Saint Catherine on Mount Sinai, the oldest monastery in the world which has existed and operated continuously since the 5th century A.D, with one of the most important libraries in the world, has definitively signed today an agreement with the Egyptian authorities to retain the historical rights it has held for 1,500 years. Let me remind you that no matter which conqueror passed through in the long history, even Muhammad, no one ever harmed this Greek Monastery, because of its history and spiritual significance. It's an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built between 548 and 565 AD. Inside this Monastery, there is one of the oldest known surviving depiction of Jesus Christ as Pantocrator dating from when the Monastery was founded by the Byzantine emperor Justinian I. - Homer Pavlos

I didn't bother querying the Big Five for my novel. Scanning their historical fiction sections, 72% were written by women, the rest mostly ethnically/LGBT-themed. Thankfully, self-publishing proved a big success.
