Q: Why is your Uber driver tracked in real time—but not your local cop?

DePIN relies on thousands of individuals deploying devices everywhere — from hotspots to solar panels.
But there’s a problem:
🧍♂️ Not every “user” is human
📍Not every GPS signal is legit
Spoofers + bots = bad data + unfair rewards.

I love it! @RideSafeWorld @sergioaved
Here in N.Y. there are so many people operating taxis with regular plates. " I'm just giving my friend a ride" the driver will tell a questioning police officer , who cares less.

“Advantage mode” is a scheme that favors the independent contractors who drive HOW Uber and Lyft want them to — forcing them to accept undesirable, unprofitable offers to maintain the metrics required.
This creates a second class set of drivers who are systematically disadvantaged, i.e., punished, for choosing to operate their business as they see fit, as Independent Contractors.
This is unacceptable.

Got this offer last night.
Obviously, this was a “No” for me, but I do want to respectfully suggest to Mr. @davidrisher that Lyft consider removing the $300 cap on driver pay for a ride. Not sure it ever made sense, but seems to be very outdated.
I would’ve taken this ride at a reasonable rate. No chance of a return trip though, so this is 24¢/mile round trip.
Please end the $300 limit!

🚨 UBER isn’t just a rideshare app — it’s an insurance brokerage disguised as tech.
While drivers hustle for every ride, Uber quietly profits from mandatory insurance charges that:
1.Are not optional — you can’t choose the provider.
2.Are paid by the driver, not Uber.
3.Fluctuate wildly without transparency or logic.
4.Show up on your trip breakdowns, earnings reports, and tax forms.
💰 Uber makes money by forcing drivers to pay insurance premiums that they control and negotiate, just like McDonald’s profits from owning land, not burgers.
Meanwhile, driver pay keeps shrinking. Wonder why?
Because the real business is insurance.

It’s a total scam! There is nothing transparent about it at all. And then they have the nerve to claim they “only” take about 30% of their fee after insurance, etc.
Another scam is the promotions they make us pay for. What the…😡
They’re a bunch of exploitative thieves.

“I'm so poor that I had to sign up for Uber Eats”
After driving around for 45 minutes and delivering 2 orders she made $7.86. “Are you f*cking kidding me right now? Like, is that even legal?”
This would barely even cover her gas. Uber is robbing both their customers and drivers

NEW: Uber passenger sentenced to life in prison for executing a mother of four who was begging for her life.
Horrific.
25-year-old Calvin Crew was sentenced to life in prison for taking the life of Uber driver Christina Spicuzza.
Spicuzza’s fiancé unleashed during his impact statement when Crew refused to show up to his own sentencing.
"No reason other than a coward. A coward who couldn’t be here today to face this... Christy was everything for my family. I was lost, out of control. She saw something in me."
In the dashcam footage, Spicuzza could be heard begging for her life as Crew held the gun to her head.
The footage ends when Crew notices the camera.
The mother of four’s body was found two days later in the Pittsburgh area, with a gunshot wound to her head.

Another silent robbery by Uber against its drivers:
• Trip: 52.4 miles – nearly 1 hour
• Uber charged the rider $149.37
• The driver received only $61.68
Where did the rest go?
•$50.52 taken by Uber as a “service fee”
•$30.69 for so-called operational and insurance costs
•$5.48 tolls
•$1.00 city surcharge
In short: Uber kept over 58% of the total fare, while the driver did all the work.
Who works under these conditions?

In 1 hour of rideshare driving I generated $20 of revenue in Los Angeles.
Not $20 of profit. $20 of revenue.
Would you send your car out for 5 hours if you’d only make $100?
EDIT: Turns out the customers actually paid $60, not $20. Fascinating.

At least they tell you how much they charged the customer, in miami they don't and it's provably a lot worse for the driver. On the left is my rider app linked with driver app. On right is a separate app with a different account with the same trip info entered
